it was a cougar. This is why people are concerned. They are showing less and less concern about people in their territory and since food is diminishing they have to come in closer quarters with humans to find it.
Shunsui, how did you find this article? It's funny, and I grew up about 10 miles from Grizzly Flats. I hiked, biked, dirt biked, and rode horses all over the foothills, but never saw a mountain lion/cougar/puma/painter. Heard a few when I was young, and that was a blood curdling sound, let me tell you.
Sadly, in 1994 a woman was attacked by a mountain lion while jogging not far from Grizzly Flats. Her remains were found partially eaten some time later. Not a happy story. (The story can be read here, part way down the page.)
