How many knives do you carry while on the streets?
I usually have a Buck Hilo in my front pocket.
4" MTech fixed-blade in my coat pocket.
Not very reassuring for a "gang-war" but enuff comfort for a one-on-one mugger??
Thank the sports channel for the UFC wars that teach us how to get down with fists & feet alone.
I'm too old to run anyway. Lol!

mostly just the one (ie spyderco Ti ATR, emerson specwar CQC8 or crawford perfigo). i have other "things" though lol (ie kahr PM9/P9, OC, etc)

OC is legal most places and is handy to have imho.

2 folders, a Winston key, a belt buckle knife, a Hideaway Knife, a Seb in belt pouch and a Leatherman in pouch.

its just ocd-ish...

my edc-emerson sark[sharpened to a tanto point],emerson raven,crkt m16,crkt lightfoot urban shark,tactical fixed blade,ivory handled "offcut knife[made from offcut blade steel]on my key ring,little ti knife in my wallet,sak spartan,leatherman wave,cz 75b + 2 spare mags

I just carry a Swamp Rat Howling Rat, Spyderco Atlantic Salt (serrated), Spyderco reverse s-curved Meerkat (serrated), generic Swiss Army-style slipjoint multi-tool, and my new Boker-Magnum SubCom Folder (model 589).

Not one of them would save me from a mugger if he or she gets close enough to me to attempt mugging.

I carry a Manix or Native or Ritter Grip or one of several dozen other knives and a Dragonfly and a mini leatherman daily.

I usually have my Caly, Jr., Firetac, and Sebbie. And sometime I have my Fallkniven U2 also.

I prefer, lately, the Buck Mayo Cutback (7.25 inches), Mayo built surfboards for 20 years (can you see the beauty of the churning ocean in his work), front right pocket.

Wanting, oh yes siree and you might just know what I mean, wanting the TNT (also 7.25 inches). Even though it is tip down. http://www.bladeart.com/artists/tom_mayo/tom_ma1.jpg

Oh yea, also, a red Victorinox Classic (rescued for $1.04, from a vast, lonely and sad airport donation pile), on a humorously large keyring/chain with assorted neat stuff, left front pocket.

Best,

oregon

Do I have to mention my Victorinox Classic with a dangerous 1 inch blade?
(you laugh, but one I went to a bar and the guy wanted to confiscate it before I enter). I have this on my keyring since I ended elementary school.

Most of the time I have a cheap snake eye (wich will soon be replaced by a Camillus heat) but it's not really for self-defense.

I also carry (sometimes) a cheap bali imitation (folder).

And my teeths

I always have a couple or three knives on me, but they are tools to me. I don't think at this stage of my life I want to get into a knife fight. I carry a sak or two and a stockman.

Living outside of Washington D.C. I have some suburban paronia, but I always have my Irish blackthorn stick with me. I'd rather use a blunt force truma weapon than an edged one. It's right there in my hand, and as I am a partly disabled vet I need a walking stick. I have a hunch that a blunt impact is more immediatly incapacitating than a cut or stab wound.

One EDC on me. Right now it's a Spyderco Dragonfly. That's pretty much it for me.It may be due to a number of things, but I rarely feel threatened when out and about, regardless of time of day. In reality, it is most likely due to the relative lack of crime where I frequent, my avoidance of higher crime areas of town and the fact that at my age(33), and fitness level, I'm probably not an easy target for a would-be mugger at this point. As I get older and less fit, I would think I'll be even more cautious of my surroundings, but doubt I will compensate with an extra blade for SD. I think good SD is a lot about situational awareness most of the time.

I'm with Jackknife here -- knives are not very good tools for defensive purposes, at least not for most folks.

Normal night out would be a BM 806 in right hand pocket, BM 975SBT IWB, SAK officer in left pocket\or Gerber Multi-Tool in belt pouch. This is my normal out'n about carry most of the time. The BM's would work fine for SD if necessary. The past 3 weeks I've been accosted 3 different times while out holiday shopping, so I've taken to once again carrying a Kasper Bulldog and a Beretta 92FS.

you must live in a very dangerous area...

Hell, WHERE do you live? I live in a not so lovely part of Brooklyn and its mainly kids who go around doing that

Two knives. There's no need for more as far as I'm concerned for day to day street life. Carrying more is, as you say, paranoia.

Right pocket is (currently) a Spyderco Native, and riding at the bottom of the left pocket is a Victorinox Soldier.
