Urban Paranoia?

I carry a Spyderco Native, and a Gerber Multitool. I figure that if someone is brave enough to mess with me ( 6.5 feet tall, 300 pounds, kinda scary looking) that I'll use the multitool. Imagine the damage that a frantically weilded pair of needle nose pliers (with wirecutters) can do :D

It's strange but true... In an area like this, people come out from the "rougher" areas of the city and look at everyone as an easy target. In the city, they think twice because they don't automatically assume "this guy lives out here, so he must be a weak, soft push-over."
It creates a strange illusion... that it's safer to live in the city than on the edge. Or, maybe it just debunks the illusion that it's safer to live outside the city than in it.

Whatever...
Peace.

Sounds like a "yankee" problem. Here in the south it's the exact opposite. Folks from the bigger cities are afraid to be down a lonely country road after dark. Everyone knows if you live out in BFE you own several guns and multiple dogs. And most importantly we know how to use them both.

I've had knives in my pocket since my first job in a hardware store, i've got this little Kershaw in my pocket which keeps me entertained popping it open and closing it.. push comes to shove i'm running home and getting my S&W

I carry a BM Gravitator, Emerson CQC-8, or a Spyderco Paramilitary in the front pocket always, and a leatehrman wave at work. I've also always got my Trident TC-01 in the center console of my truck. I'm thinking of picking up an Emerson la Griffe neck knife for occasional carry/to se if I like it.

Like others though, I don't rely on my knives for protection as much as usefulness. For protection I'd much rather go with the Glock 36 or the Sig 239, one of which is always in my waistband. ;)

We're talking about the suburbs, not "Deliverance" type terrain with redneck moonshiners and such. :)

Hell's bells! Even the soccer moms carry down here. Of course they also chew tobaccy and armwrestle before scrubbing out the laundry on a washboard. But always real lady like.

:D

I carry Clay Jr mainly as utility tool. I'll use it as last-ditch defense weapon. I came very close to using it as wepon once.

The knife I prefer is a Ruger Speed Six. 2.75" barrel. Fits comfortably in my right front pocket.

A Buck Rush and Buck 110 on my person---Ruger P95 and Ruger Sp101 .357----are usually very---very--- close by-----Leatherman in the truck.

Nope---we don't have problems here----and let's keep it that way.

I live in a Communist country where they want to take guns off of law-abiding sportsmen..it's called "Canada" & it's a mess up here!!
They even have gay weddings & welfare for them now!!
I wish I was American myself.

Who cares about gay weddings? If you think they'll send themselves to hell, that's up to them. Nobody's going to make you marry another dude.

I think of it this way: Every time someone gets married, they pay a preacher (or a courthouse)... More money for the preachers!

As long as I can do what I want, I don't care what anybody else does. Once they take away my rights, I'll get pissed.

Peace.

IMHO, I may be wrong and I may be right, but I carry a knife as a tool. In the past week I've switched from a Spyderco Native PE to a Benchmade 551 Griptilian PE to a Spyderco Native SE black blade for main EDC, and a Buck Cadet for my backpocket, utility. I would never carry either specifically for self defense, but I would use them in that regard if I had to. I have no training in SD. I sometimes carry a walking stick, bad knees at 26, and I would much rather use that for SD. Other than that, my fists. I live in MD which is a state that does not offer concealed carry permits without a lot of red tape that the average citizen cannot get through, and I'm not proficient with handguns, so until I move out of state and get some learnin', I'm not going to carry a pistol. It is also my opinion that most thieves are not well trained fighters, mostly they are trying to get their fix and are prepared to kill their own mother to get their fix, so the best bet would be to stop them and get away. Unless you are trained in SD, I don't see much reason in carrying a knife strictly for SD.

Well let me know what you think when your health and life insurance rates skyrocket even more due to the coverage now mandatory to "spouses" of gay "marriages".

Its not about being together as a couple, they can already do that its about entitlements, adoption, legal status and benefits.

OK, wasn't this a knife discussion? :)

2 knives lg seb rotating back up(flavor of the day), surge multi tool and A2 on belt all day everyday. feel weird without them.

I'm not really sure. It was about urban paronia, and I think it had to do with knives as self defense. But if you want to talk about gay weddings, it's a free country, I think.

I'll just go talk to those guys about getting to Aintree.:D

I always have my little SAK (those tiny tweezers have saved my butt more than once) and the good old Ka-Bar mule, and I'll generally carry various fixed blades, depending on the situation (what I'm doing, who's going to be freaked out by the big kid carrying the big knife)

Usually I have two knives on me. Today, it was a BM 732 and a Vic Mountaineer. I can get to the 732 (belt pouch) quickly and easily. But, for those days of true paranoia, I'll repalce the Vic with something else (maybe a micotech mini socom, MOD Hornet, etc), keep the 732 and have something waveable in pocket (Commander, waved Endura, 'ghetto' waved 806).
