Urban Regulator - $225 ... $217
For sale is a new / unused (dare I say mint?) one of 25 special edition Scrap Yard Urban Regulator. I can't find an imperfection on either blade. It is special because of the fact that Scrap Yard only made 25 and made it with a grey handle and coated it grey. Scrap Yard does not depart from the normal black coating and certainly rarely ever releases colored handles, so this is an incredibly rare and collectible piece.
The Regulator was certainly named properly; it is a beast of a knife at .33" thick. The handle is probably the most ergonomic handle that I've ever used on a knife this size. It is a perfect camp knife that can handle anything. Choking back on the handle adds almost 3" while still being secure, turning the Regulator into a formidable chopper. It clears brush like no man's business. The choil is really good and the top guard does not get in the way it all.
I love Bowie knives and the execution of the grind on this design is perfect. It creates an incredible tip for piercing and has enough metal behind it to pry all you want.
I was lucky enough to hunt down two of these and one is going to be my only safe queen since I have a regular black regulator that I use regularly on camping trips. The first time I carried it, it I carried 3 knives - the Basic 11, Regulator and I think my SAR-3 or another small fixed blade. On the next trip, I carried just the regulator and a small fixed blade. I found that the regulator was actually better at clearing and chopping thinner wood for fire starting and for building the leanto I slept under and that it did everything else I wanted it to do, so I had no need for the B-11.
