Urban survival kit

A quality multi tool should be on your list as others have suggested, and a way to start a fire (a bic or Zippo).

Maybe lose one of the knives (you mentioned you had a few) to make room for a SOG PowerLock (strongest pliers ever), or a Leatherman. If it was wilderness survival, multitple knives woulden't be a problem since you don't need to turn a screw or cut wire, but in URBAN survival..having a screwdriver or a pair of pliers would make all the diffrence.

I'm really not trying to be condescending, but the best urban survival advice I have is move. :D

wise advise i myself took in 1980. most advice I have seen posted I agree with I was very proud of the people of my home town during 911 and the black out .that being said if the disaster lasts any length of time police and fire are going to be very busy and the street jackel's are gonna start hunting I would avoid any open fire or any thing else that would draw unwanted attention use a light weight back packing stove or a trangia or pepsi can stove for cooking or some heat, purify water ect. I would stash a supply of mre's or other type of lite weight food for at least a week maybe two for how ever many are in your party .with 8 million residents food will become an issue quickly it wont take the looter's long to clean out the stores
