Urban Survival !!!

Hey Pit, try dropping the good and just say 'mornin. (It's a Southern thang!)

Not every morning starts out good. :)

If I am in a store and need to walk between someone and whatever they are looking at on a shelf I usually say "pardon me". (I think "excuse me" is used way too much.) Noone ever says anything, but if someone says something in the reverse situation I usually give a 'mm hmm'. Not at all gruff like. I try to sound chipper. (ie not quite high pitched, but not low grumbly.)

Ya know Pit, maybe you could fake a foreign accent. Maybe you could try to sound british or something. Ask for directions. Say you want some spotted dick and haggis or something. :) Kidding, mate!

It's VERY rude. I work in an office building and people that I work with will ignore you when you say good morning. I make a point to say hello to the people that are like this.

I guess some people are just so wrapped up in their own little world to give a crap.

Well Pit..... if you have the same morning face that I get until the coffee kicks in...... we may have an answer.

Pitdog,
You cannot be a candle if your light dont shine. Keep up the friendly stuff. If others want to cower, or ignore, then it is their problem not yours. I would have given you a hello, and a good mornin right back.

I've found that over 90% of the time I get a polite response when saying excuse or pardon me.

As for pit's photo's I never thought he looked rough or thug like, could be the class of people I hang with (meant in a good way)

I was brought up that the only opinions you need to worry about are those made by people you respect.

F*&k 'em if they can't take a joke

That's very normal in NYC! LOL. It actually seems strange when I go somewhere else and complete strangers say "Good Morning".

:grumpy:

I hear you, Pitdog!

I started noticing this in the early 80's. I never understood and still don't.

I think my biggest pet peeve is when I go through a door and notice that someone is behind me and I hold the door for them to get it themselves; a few of them just pass through like I am their personal doorman without so much as saying, "Boo!" I don't understand that at all. When I was younger I used to let go of the door on them! And then "apologize" to say, "Oh, I am sorry; I thought you were getting the door." :p
