Hi,
Got a call from Heather that my Mammoth Ivory Mnandi (color is Hollywood Celebrity Smile kind of white) is ready. But I was thinking of getting a damascus blade. Not sure if this is too late in the game to change blades from S30V to Damascus.

I intend to use this knife as office-environment EDC cutting paper and food (if I absolutely positively have to and I was starving).

I am looking at :
Turkish Twist :

Banded Ladder

Composite:

or Raindrop:

Which one do you like ? Please help me choose.

This is Devin's page:

This is CRK's Mnandi/Damascus page :

Thanks.

I saw the raindrop and ladder damascus at the 2005 solvang show. Both are very impressive. I personally prefer the raindrop. The devin thomas stainless damascus has a lot of contrast and pictures do not do it justice. Which ever one you pick, you will be happy with it.

On a small narrow blade like the Mnandi I think a tight, complex pattern like the Turkish Twist would work best.

Uh, wait a minute! I went back and read (more carefully!) that you were called today? I got my call yesterday, and she said mine was already wrapped in tissue paper for shipping...If she called about yours being ready, she may be shipping ASAP! mine was suppose to ship today.

I think the damascus steel might "overpower" the elegance of the ivory. If I was you, I think I'd stick with the S30V.

Out of those, I would pick Turkish twist as well.

GoodGuy brings up a good point though, you may want to consider how it will look with the ivory first.

I just tried to change a S30v blade to Damascus and was told up to 6 months. But being that you got the call, maybe they can get you a nice Damascus blade quick. I have this one coming and love the spiralgraph pattern.

Man, those Mnandis sure are sweet looking knives. Haven't ever been too partial to folders, but I think I gotta get me one of those....
