Knife Care Tips:

Never Store your knife for long periods in the Leather Sheath. Leather can absorb water, which will rust the knife. If your Sheath gets wet, don't store the knife in it. After use, wash the blade, dry it, and WD-40, vegetable oil, or Vaseline on the blade to prevent rust.

Carbon steel will change colors with time but will still perform well. Clean the brass and handle metal with Flitz or other brass cleaner. Wax is another alternative for the sheath, metal parts and the knife blade.

Here is a plug for the manufacturer'r. I own two of his blades, a Clifft bowie and one of his forged Glolok's. I just ordered another Clifft style cause they are so darn nice and historically accurate and plain simple but at the same time a lot of thought and skill goes into it. Point being here is that the craftsmanship exhibited on his knives is exceptional and I kid you not. His shipping is very fast and he stands behind his product. I own two of Gulzar's Bowie's, a Musso like the one for sale here, and smaller Juan Padillo Bowie. Both are accurate reproductions of the originals and are of high quality. They are as good as knives sold for twice the price.

I not familiar with the Musso Bowies. Looking them up, I see the folded brass on the spine is part of their common design.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the brass on the spine?

It’s soft and catches blades if you block with the spine, for duelin’ bowies

Purpose of the Brass on the Spine: When you catch the blade or push the blade with your hand then you feel soft, easy and grip.

I also proudly own a Musso Bowie replica made by Gulzar and it is incredible!!! The balance is spot on and it literally feels alive in my hand despite being a very large Bowie!!! I gave mine a forced patina using a combination of yellow mustard and vinegar soaked paper towels wrapped in aluminum foil. Gulzar is a seriously talented knife maker and I highly recommend his knives!
