US Army looks to be giving up on bayonets!

Well from the back of my memory I have a recollection that there is a new knife by Gerber ? Anyway .... nothing wrong with a Kabar ....

Yes, I got mine in last week after being on backorder since January. Gerber LHR. it is a sweet fighter, and for under $100 with it's sweet sheath set up it can't be beat for the $$. feels great in the hand,

Oddly enough, the Air Force now teaches rifle fighting techniques (using the M16 as a club). They don't give them bayonets, though.

Not true, bayonet issue would be a unit policy, not AF wide. When I was an Air Force squadron commander I issued bayonets to my airmen.

...It has also begun to use alternatives to the attached bayonet, including a five-shot, bolt-action shotgun underslung from an assault rifle....

What, they couldn't find a muzzle loader?

Then they should let them stick something in basic training, just for fun. Bayonet training without bayonets is just not the same. My daughter who is in BMT did recently enjoy the pugil stick fighting. It was the only way to get even with her enemies without a court maritial. Bayonets are not appropriate there, but the bayonets would have added a nice touch to the rifle fighting techniques training, IMO.
