Us knife owners especially folding knife owners lie to ourselves

what you need to is do what i did and the THE ONE knife youve been wanting. i got my small sebby a couple months ago, and i havent bought anything new since because i know there isnt another knife i'd like more. about the only knives i could see myself liking more are wayy to expensie for my income.

It's only been a few months. Give it time. Maybe it hasn't been produced yet. Thirty years ago I used to think that about my Buck Special.

SBaker34: I have absolutely been there! After all, i realistically only need a couple of knives period...but i always find a reason to buy another.:o
I have bought fewer knives than i ever have since getting a small Sebenza though...but i think i feel the fever coming back.:)

I need another knife as badly as I need another hole in my head. The truth of the matter is, I enjoy collecting knives. People choose to collect all sorts of things, spoons, baseball cards, paintings, bells, crystal, trains, frogs, the list is endless. I choose to collect knives. I have absolutely no need for another knife or the last 600 I bought, but so what? Enjoy the hobby and buy, buy, buy!!! :D

Other than kitchen knives, I can think of 3 knives I've purchased that were purchased due to a true "need." My first friction folder, a box cutter/utility knife, and a machete. Everything else is superfluous. :)

oh i know it'll only be a while before i get the itch. there's a couple knives i'd like to try out, and my grail knife is still a small micarta seb with damascus, but i dont see myself getting that until i win the lottery

Not even a little :D

I do IT work in NJ, near NYC. I cut boxes, cables, and whatever else i can find an excuse to cut. I currently have an Izula and a Sage I on me. Either one of those knives would do everything i need on a daily basis. Combined they do far more.

Logically i could stop buying knives right now and be totally covered.

Yet somehow, this month, I've purchased 2 Swamp Rats, I've pre-ordered another Swamp Rat, and also a limited edition Mini-Grip in M390.

I don't even try to rationalize my purchases. I love knives, that's all the rationalizing i need. I also work full time and can afford it. I could come up with lots of reasons why buying knives makes sense. If I'm honest with myself though, it comes down to the fact that i like knives, and i buy what i like.

At least knives are useful tools. So many other things people collect are nothing but chotchkies. It doesn't make what i collect better, but i can always come up with a use for my knives beyond looking cool.

I just got my 710.. I love it even more than my griptilain which means ill probably find something to use instead so I don't wreck it.. which I will probably do the same thing there too.

We may need to give all our knives away to the knife less ones.Would we feel better or just go buy another and another and..............................................

Congrats on the 710. Tear up that Grip and use your limited edition 710 for carry. I don't buy limited editions because it makes me not want to use them. Something about that #xx of xxx that makes me hesitate to cut heavily with one. :D
