US Mint Concealed Coin-Knife Causing Consernation

Architect was more correct than he knew, I have seen an earring knife somewhere I'll try to dig it up.

I wonder what can really be done in the name of "security".

TLM

TLM, Jot Singh Khalsa makes really nice knife jewelry including earrings. I own a dagger earring in sterling silver. Nice stuff but I wouldn't wear it to an airport....

On the FLIP SIDE of this issue, it sure would be easy to keep a piece like that in MINT condition. Seems one could always get a dollar for it.

I know, I know..... enuff outta you Vel.

Ya know whats hilarious? They seem to say "is available via the Internet" & "guaranteed for one year against any manufacturing defect" to make it sound more "dangerous". As we all know, everything having to do with the internet is bad (except AOL) and things will be so much worse if the terrorists get their hands on a warranty!

Ahhhhhhh. I'm being attacked. Oh no, he has a weapon. What the ****? A half dollar? OH NO!!! It's on of the LETHAL US MINT COIN KNIVES!!! I'm doomed! :D :D :D
That's just plain sad,
Matt:rolleyes:

Better look out, next thing you know, butter knives will be considered weapons! GIMME A BREAK! These people need to educate themselves and stop breeding fear and hysteria.

And by the way, does anyone happen to know the statistics on what TYPES of knives are used in crimes? I think a safe bet would be kitchen knives.

Anybody else notice that on the Mint website the "coin weapon" has a note saying "this product not available?"

phantom4

Phantom4,

I see that, but some other products also have this notation. The Silver American Eagle Coin Pocket Knife is under Coin Jewelry, Gentleman's Jewelry. I did not check to see whether it is also under women's jewelry.

Hopefully, the above link will work if one wants to see it. If not either look where I mention or do a search when you get to the http://catalog.usmint.gov site.

Now to the good questions, what exact steel is in the blade and who does the heat treat? :D
