I personally think it's a stupid idea/practice to shut down a thread just because someone/several posters say things irrelevant to the topic of the thread. If anything, it should be those violating posters that should be shut down rather than the thread itself.

This thread isn't currently shutdown, but you just resurrected the irrelevant side topic :/

I admire Spyderco and the fact that they make high quality knives for just about everyone in any price range that is wanting a knife. I can't think of another knife maker that does that with the quantity of Spyderco.

... And I resent Spyderco and Kershaw being included, because their knives are US made only in the loosest sense, being almost completely manufactired in China, and even using some Chinese turnkey knives that are shipped from China completely assembled.

I think Buck is a great company (voted for them, too), but that is a fair bit of hyperbole.

My grandfather carried a Buck until his dying day. I carried a few Buck knives back in the 90s. Since going full-modern on folders, they just haven't had much to offer me. I have seen a couple of interesting designs in recent years but unfortunately, the quality kept them off the table for me. Both ran 7Cr17Mov and cost too much for what they were.

They might have been okay a decade ago. Now that so many Chinese manufacturers have stepped up with their own stuff in better materials, made to better standards at much more competitive prices; this kind of Walmart knife-counter fodder feels like such a waste to me.

To illustrate my point, here is Buck's description for one of those knives. Keep in mind that this knife was released in 2022. It literally says "... 7Cr steel blade provides the ultimate performance". 🤦‍♂️
