usage for a used parachute !

I don't remember who it was, but somebody wrote abuout using a parachute as a teepee. He folded the chute in half, so it was a half circle of material rather than a full circle. Then he hanged the parachute from a rope over a tree limb, staking the bottom edge in a circle. He claimed the two layers of cloth together kept the rain out.

If you have or can get a copy of the Army survival manual (or you can look at it on ritters survival site) It has instructions in how to do this "the army way"

The older versions of the USN book "How to Survive on Land and Sea" had a large section in the back on how to use your parachute in survival situations. Tent, hammock, sail, and other items.
