USB Microscopes Redux

someone had an article on the internet about a usb microscope. he had lots of pics of professionally sharpened knives. i lost the link and could never find it. if you know the link could you post it. also has anyone used one of these with a mac.

I can see a bur with course media with my bare eyes. To visualize a bur, with 10,000 grit media, some magnification would be helpful, but I do not need a microscope to do that. If I have very bright light, I see the reflection of the bur now, with fine media.

I am going to guess their not using these to look at burrs by looking at those pics. There is a lot more to sharpening a knife that I don't know about and uses for a microscope in this sense than I know. But looking at those pictures posted already I can tell you in more detail how much more refined an edge is and what how well the bevel was made as you can see it in quite a bit more detail.

And I've said it earlier but it also helps in asking for help in what your doing wrong if your having trouble. I remember someone asking for help in making a mirror edge in freehand in the past, someone took a look at the edge and spotted a few problems and gave suggestions to correct it and to go to slightly higher finish on some strops which worked for him and he came back to show off his perfect mirrored polished blade.

In my previous post I mentioned a product priced at $75. that looked like a good value. Yesterday I found a scope with the same spec's at $39. Best deal I've seen yet.....

I think Bob6794 pretty much nailed it in his earlier post about the benefits of this device for a knife enthusiast. I know I could have solved questions I had regarding sharpening issues. I'm going to give Amazon my $40. I'll post my review when it arrives. Jeff
