So the Coast Guard is gearing up counter-terrorism training for units to be deployed on a national and worldwide level. I wonder what the Man'O'INFI would design for them. Anyone want to help ponder the possibilties?

Infi folder, serrated sheepsfoot blade, and a marlinspike. If anyone needs a high tech rope knife- it is the Coasties.

I'll bite .I would think it might be simular to the RIPPER since line cutting could be a possiblity ?

Folder and EU-17 w/serrations for cutting line. Serrations on the spine to allow for more cutting area on the edge.

Marlinspike is good for working with line to make eyes, splicing, and general rope work. Although it could be used in an offensive manner it may not be something that would be used in a high speed/low drag situation. But hey, it would be cool...

add the Marlin spike!

I'm in!

While I'm sure there will be nautical applications, these blades would be employed by young men in harm's way. They are to be training with Isreali Commandos, SEALs, Marine Sniper Units and NSA. Knives are used in an offensive manner rather than utilitarian while in the sessions being developed for training.

In that case, I'm not sure Busse is the right knife. I'm thinking more dark ops or extrema ratio  Seriously though, I love the ST-56, it's a great knife.

I think the knife should have a Soul or Two.....

Agreed!

In the meantime, we should ask Ronybear. I believe he knows a certain honorabl young man who is already doing that sort of duty... with INFI. :D

If only I knew what you were talking about.:p

I am purely speculating on this idea folks. My son was welcomed into the first stages of training/testing recently, and it will begin in the following months. I will truly be searching out something for him even if he doesn't make the wash. I'm proud of him for serving in his current station at Port Huron. His CO recently sent me notice that my boy was being awarded for bravery for going into the St. Clair River to rescue a fellow Coastie. He should have had a Busse to cut the ice.;)

Very, I repeat, VERY rarely do any of us get issued any specialized gear that has not been approved for mass use through out the service. Items such as knives, multi-tools, flashlights, etc. are typically an out of pocket expense for the the member since any gear issued is exclusively dependent on how much the unit is funded or provided by HQ/Area/District. In the case of most USCG units, its almost always below what is required to operate which means no surplus for high speed, custom/semi-custom, special metal, items. Situation sucks but we deal and get the job done...

I thought the USCG were issued Missions MPK's?
