hi there,

i was wondering, has anybody got a used beltsander he doesn't use anymore. or does one of you has a link to a cheap beltsander? i do have a benchgrinder and i have seen a few of those rebuild to a beltgrinder, if anyone knows a tutorial to that it would also be great.

grtz,
martijn

You know if we knew where you were it might help your cause.
While I have more than one sander I would give away to a beginning knifemaker I would probably not want to go through the hassle of mailing it.

I think Martin is in Europe....

Harbourfreight and Home Depot probably have cheap belt sanders....

Wish someone near me had one to give me, haha....I would really like to be able to sharpen with a belt sander and do some minor shaping...

M@rtin lives in the Netherlands. Your best bet is buying the 'no weld grinder' plans from Tracy Mickley and building your own. Most have been able to do it from scrap steel for the frame and just purchasing the wheels for under $400 (including the motor which can be found pretty much anywhere).
