Gang- Back in the day, I NEVER would have bought a used knife. But, Emerson has changed that. My HD7 is a keeper. This folder just has a cool history and character!
Any body else buy used?

I would but solely based on like new or just lightly used. Everyone's opinion of what "good condition" is can vary greatly so it really depends on usage and price. I do not buy any knives that have been resharpened unless it is a model that is very desirable to me like a Emerson ECA 19-Eleven for example.

Vast majority of mine have been used. Lately some new ones, but Emerson's are very "rebuildable", so I don't hesitate to snag a used one if the deals decent.

I have had 7 Emersons, only one was purchased new. They really hold up great over time

Only my 10, Persian, and A136 were bought new from a dealer or EKI. Everything else has been acquired used.

Thanks guys.
Yea, and bad or over sharpened blade is a no go for me.
The new minty fresh Emersons sure are nice tho.

Really only no go for me would be over sharpened because than I'd have to pay for a new blade, pretty much anything beyond that EKI will repair or I'll like as a character enhancer.

All the Emersons that I have bought, were used. Some more than others, but all of them were still good knives. I have been lucky and bought some that were lnib, for a user price. Most of the people buying and selling on here are pretty honest when it comes to describing the knives they're selling. As long as the warranty is still good, then I am good to go.

Very interesting posts.
btw, I also scored some Spyderco, Para Military, and Strider, SnG, used folders that will stay with me.

Thanks. ^
I was really surprised how well my used HD7 held up. I mean, the former owner, used it hard. Used... not abused.
Well... not REALLY surprised. It IS an Emerson. :D

A new Emerson is nice because you can break it in at your own pace and to your liking. About half the ones that have gone through my hands were acquired used. As long as its in solid shape i couldnt really care. Plus you can find some used at great prices.

Jah, Ben!^
Can you show a pic? Sans the story. :D

After some carpet and drywall cutting task still rocking it in most of the days! :D

There are no such thing as a used Emerson. It is merely a knife that has been loved and broken in by the previous owner.
