is there a rule of thumb when looking at these used?

Assuming, a regularly used oven, that isn't beat up, what is a good deal on one? 25% off the new purchase price? 50% off the new price? anything specific to check out, when looking at a used one?

thanks!

assuming none of the bricks are broken, looks well taken care of, coils work, and has a modern controller along with a correctly operating TC, I personally wouldn't give more than 20-25% off. I would start higher than that though.

I personally would maybe pay 50% of new price.

But, I don't want to accept that kind of risk for only a couple of hundred dollars.

From what I understand, coils have a lifespan.
I'd hate to have to replace the coils soon on something I only saved a couple hundred bucks on...

And, the new controller, the Rampmaster 3 I think, has some features that I personally would really appreciate.
Alarms in particular.
My Rampmaster 2 only has 1 alarm, telling me it hit temperature, I'd like one to remind me when I hit the allotted time at temperature, and I believe the new one does that.
I'd pay an extra hundred or 2 just for that.

I wouldn't buy a used one unless I knew that the owner actually took care of it, and that the coils were still good.

The digital controller is absolutely necessary IMO.
