We all love to show off our brand new knives when we first get them. It's probably because we're so excited about it. I always like seeing some well used ones too. There are plenty of pics of older knives that have seen lots of use, but with being a relatively new company there aren't too many user GEC pics. There are some who only collect them, but I know there are more than a few guys and gals here who carry and use their GEC knives. I'd love to see some of your well used GECs, patina, scratches, pitting, rust:eek: and all.

I'll start off with my #73 in smooth almond bone. This is what it looks like after about 10 months of on and off use. No more shiny blades.:D

Just back from a visit to Kreuz Market in Lockhart, home of the best barbecue in Texas according to many, me included. The meat is smoked on a live oak fire, sliced to order at the pit and served on butcher paper. Silverware (and "barbecue sauce":barf:) are not available. A place where a good traditional knife is a necessity :).

Todd that No.25 Wharncliffe is haunting me! I've got to track one down...Fine picture of two very good small knives.

No GEC Ed? You need to alter that!

I've probably carried this #26 Sleeveboard more than any other knife in my EDC rotation since the day we first met. :)

gecs--2 pioneers & 1 musk
spiral buffalo--bubinga-- & horsecut walnut. the bubinga was left stuck in a cantalope by my nephew [all nite] the buffalo has done 3 whitetails & much haystring.

Thanks for the pics so far guys. Those are some very well cared for beauties. One thing that I noticed after my first post was how the patina really makes the blade etching 'disappear'. I had totally forgotten that mine even had it in the first place.:D
 
Here's my exec whittler, used to cut fruit and veggies ;-)

Nice looking blades!
Did you "help" that patina? and if so what did you use?
I have one in stag that I keep polished but if I could be sure of a gray like that I would let them discolor.
 
great pics guys.. i am loving these GEC knives.. i had a #23 pioneer, but it was a little on the big side for me, so i gave it to a bowyer/bowhunting firend of mine.. he loves it..

i am now looking into picking up one of the #73's... they're a little smaller, but seem like solid users... i love the fact that they come in 1095 too...:)
 
Used a dremal on the spey blade. To darken the blades I took a pill bottle and fill it with hot white vinger. Be carefull not to get it on the bolsters. After than I used a green scratch pad to even it out. Also before you start wipe the blades good with rubbing alcohol. Leave it dipped for about 45mins to a hour.


Also did it to my Case Trapper and Peanut

I believe this is the post that prompted a fellow forum member to send me a beautiful GEC whittler with smooth yellow bone scales. I can't convey to you folks how humble and thankful I am to him for sending me this wonderful knife. This act of kindness has blessed my heart tremendously and I will never forget it. Although this knife is used, it is still in very bright shiny condition. A picture:

What a wonderful knife and a great giving spirit!!! I am truly honored and blessed to have such a friend. I just can't get over it.
