Not by choice mind you, but to make a long story short, I rolled my Jeep and it ended up on its side with the drivers side up, and me hanging there. Couldn't get the seat belt unbuckled and ended up cutting it off.

Luckly I was unhurt, not thanks to the jackass that caused the accident and then took off before I was even out of my vehicle.

Moving to the Blade Discussion Forum. No knife discussion in Community.

Glad you're ok.

I think that people that flee the scene of an accident should be shot. They aren't worried about the person or people that they run off the road, they're only worried about not getting arrested and having their insurance rates increase. Argh!

I'm glad that you're ok, no thanks to the the moronic criminal that caused the accident.

What knife did you use to cut your seatbelt? Was it a serrated or a plain-edged knife? Did your seatbelt fail to open because you were suspended by your seatbelt, that is, with the seatbelt supporting your weight, the latch wouldn't operate?

I hope that they catch the guy/gal that caused the accident...because it may prevent them from killing someone, the next time!

P.S. I see that you've answered the knife question.

Ya, the Centofante is a plain edge, and it made quick work of the seatbelt.

and I am not sure why I couldn't get the seatbelt undone. I was pretty much hanging from it, but I kind of weasled my way halfway out of it and was standing up with my feet on the passenger window. I thought I had the tension off it but still couldn't get it undone. Decided to cut it at that point and get the heck out of the vehicle.

Glad you got out ok. When I was stuck in a car upside down the petrol started to leak out of the fuel tank. Not a place to "hang "around in...Were there any witnesses who could help to i.d. the other car?

I wish.

No, whoever it was is gone. There was a little paint transfer from where I hit them, but very little. I really just nicked them and then spun out into the ditch.
Good luck finding that.

Bastards.

Oh well, such is life I suppose. At least I have my insurance to cover it. Which should be a treat, I imagine I will pretty much get screwed on the deal, but I'll have to wait and see.

Glad you're OK, thanks for sharing the story.
were you pretty clear-headed at the time? I've never had a car roll on me-did you sustain any injuries?

No injuries at all miraculously.

Bruise/mark on my neck where the seat belt was, that was it.

And I pride myself on keeping cool under fire, so to speak.

I think I kept it together pretty damn well considering.

First person that stopped was the guy whose field it was. He didn't see me standing off to the side at first, and said when he saw the jeep he was almost afraid to go down and see what the person inside looked like.

Here in Quebec, Canada, If you hit someone and leave the scene and then they catch you, you go to jail. If you killed someone, you go to jail for 25 years. No kidding with this here...

Glad you're okay.

Also, if you're caught after fleeing in the US, as well, you go to jail for a while.

One scary thing about using a knife to cut yourself free...Now you have a knife in your hand and you're falling onto an uneven surface. That would suck to cut yourself free and end up with a knife in the chest.

I am glad that you didn't get hurt!! Were you able to catch the license plate of the schmuck that caused the accident!!

Man, what a thrill experience. Glade you are properly equiped. I own so many knives than i should, when a situation like, you are just glade that you remember to carry one. Care to tell me what kind of car you were driving? Though the sit belt could not release, but it is one tough M***erF***er machine. It protected you well, i must say.

Well done.

Yeah, I have a Spyderco Assist w/glass breaker in my Explorer. I keep it well wedged inside a piece of foam wedged in my center console so it stays put.

I know people who carry knives and glass breakers in their cars, but they just stick them under the sun visor or something where they'll go FLYING in an accident.

I have a buddy who had tools in the back of his 4-Runner when he rolled it twice. When he got out of the vehicle he had tools in his PANTS.
