Anybody ever take your worn scotch bright belts , load them up with a green chrome compound and work them ?. I'm thinking like a cork belt loaded up .

Results and thoughts .

I think you would lose a lot of the compound in the belt and it would not therefore provide value.

I have one that I might try that with. It is worn pretty good, but it also considerably thinner and compressed compared to a new one. I bet that it could have some use/benefit.

I have not used it yet, but Supergrit carries a felt belt specifically for this. I would be concerned with there being just enough grittiness left to the scotchbrite to be counterproductive to the polishing effect.

I've tried it. I used emory on a 400grit Scotch-brite belt. It was not as effective as a cork belt; basically polished the scratch pattern instead of refining it.
