Hey brother. Your pics wont let anyone see the knives, maybe it's just mine but I get a thing that says not allowed to see the album. Just giving a heads up, because I'm sure people will jump on both the 5 1 and 4.7

Appreciate the heads up, will investigate. Images are uploaded to the bf media folders, set to be visible to all. Unclear why you can't see them. Comes up on all my devices without even logging in to bf.

If anyone else is having trouble seeing them, please pm. I'll take some cleaner photos and update Monday either way.

Thanks for looking!

I believe TRfromMT is correct; a certain level of BF membership may be required to view items hosted on the BF media servers. Though I don't know why. I confirmed privacy settings are "public", not "members only". But it does seem to be a consistently "member vs. non member" accessibility problem :(
Feel free to PM or post to my profile page if you need pics emailed.

Price reduced $15 each

I’m very interested in the GSP 5.1 but pardon my ignorance, what does predelta mean?
Pre delta is what the finish on the blades were pre 2015 it's really awesome looking. I have my old spec 4.1 in that it's awesome. Has that tumbled look. If you google some pics you can see.

Excellent thank you for the reply SavEdgeSurvive! So looking at the Survive site it looks like the 3V was heat treated to 58-59 prior to 2015 and 59.5-60.5 post 2015. Were there issues with the pre2015 models rolling edges or not maintaining an edge? Again my ignorance is showing here. I'm really anxious for a 5.1 and the wait times are killing me!

No not at all. I work the heck out of mine and I've never had ti sharpen it once. They are still extremely tough, extremely. Oh I forgot that the old spec are also skeletonized in the handle, under the scales but they're tough I believe most of the videos where Guy (the maker) is showing the blade strength, which is cool to watch them. It's the pre delta period. To give you an bn idea of how tough they are he does some amazing things with them. I'm pretty sure he uses one in a tree, with a carabiner connected to it and repels off a cliff. I like both the pre deltas and deltas. I honestly can't tell the difference in strength, I can only notice the cosmetic difference. And I think the old spec looks awesome blade wise. The handles dont have so much of the fish belly happening but they're awesome. You won't be dissapointed.

And also because they are so tough, and reliable. And extremely hard to sharpen. If you ever have the need to..which even with hard hard use . It might be a long time. You can send them to Guy and he will sharpen them for you. Life time no bs warranty. Just dont rock climb with it and the use is covered.

And 325 for a 5.1 old spec is an awesome price, you will rarely get. I think a lot of people prefer the old look, only if you could throw the new handles/scales on, that would be cool.

Oh and my apologies, not all pre deltas have that tumbled look. I'm not able to see the album because I'm not a higher level member at the moment. But some do not. My 5.1 is pre delta, and it has that finished, I guess you would call it peened look. Oh FTM that survive! Is really good at getting back to you, at least they are with me about any technical questions as well even care questions.

Thanks for your interest. Gentlemen, although I appreciate your insight and experience, please understand that this is a sales thread. I’d greatly appreciate it if we could take the bulk of discussion to PM, or other appropriate threads. That said, I’ll do my best to knock out your questions with links to better discussion threads, that you might research and inquire until you are satisfied:

As for edge rolling- I have not seen it reported on the Survive! forum here much, but it has occurred. Here is a thread on what happened, how it was diagnosed, and how the company addressed it:

With regard to heat treats: It’s a good question, no apology needed. Survive! has limited marketing these days and I haven’t seen them discuss their heat treat in detail for quite some time. I’m guessing that’s why you didn’t find much on it at first glance. However, the heat treats they use/used are among the reasons I sought them out as a knife maker in the first place, as it is a key differentiator in the marketplace. Guy collaborated with Nathan Carothers and Dan Keffler to develop the Delta process, thus are the only makers able to use it. Delta and previous low temper protocol are supposedly extremely similar, and offer nearly indistinguishable performance. However, the gentlemen who developed the protocol are the types who continue to fight for improvement 1% or 2% at a time in order to develop a superior tool. Thus, Delta.

The finish on the knife is unrelated to the heat treat. The 5.1 and ensuing models have a “peened” finish. Prior generations have a “stone washed” finish. My vague recollection is that this is primarily aesthetic preference, but that Guy sought some additional corrosion resistance by peening. I do not possess any facts to substantiate my memories, however, or to verify if peening truly offers any advantage.
