Useless Friday Thread

He's a Nigerian millionaire...he wants to send you some money so you can invest it for him... :D

REALLY! ! ! ! ...WOW ! ! !   ... That's all I needed to know ...Now I'll be able to get all loaded up and make the move to IDAHO ...LMAO...:D  :) :D

Honkers!!! I swear those SOB's go so low over my house that I could hit them with a shovel! Drives the dogs nuts! :D

...But way too greasy for me... :barf:

Now Trax why you gotta go and tease me like that... Somedays here I need a .270 they are so high!
Wild canadian goose meat isnt greasy? Its really dry, and tough if you shoot an old bird.
Best to just continue collecting Buck Knives!!!

You can go to most any golf course/city park around here and find Canadas by the hundreds if not thousands. There was a case not long ago where a group of Asians were charged with illegally taking geese. Seems they went out on the golf course with "clubs" and smacked a bunch in the head and took them home for dinner:rolleyes: .

There is also a private golf course that used to want you to come and hunt...would let groups on for free...now they charge...more for geese than for golf:p .

I use my 118 to breast the geese that I harvest, marinate and then smoke...delicious:thumbup: . Preston

Now, why is that???

I have a 3.7 acre back yard, which faces Hole # 1 of the Oak Run Golf Course...and my wood has a small [maybe 50 ft] pond [Artesian fed] on it...lots of game...

But I never connected the Golf Course to The Flying Honkers...

What would attract a goose to a Golf Course...besides ladies day, I mean... :D

No or very little hunting pressure. Also the nice grass. Lots of premium food LOL
In WI there are hundreds of them on golf courses but NO HUNTING...
Its very hard for us to find a place to go...

What Jim said about the safe area and food plus many are locals, born and raised here, stay year round...after the season opens the migrates take notice of where the locals hang and the numbers zoom.

The Colorado DOW(or the city officals) in the Ft. Collins area started a special program years ago(60s IRRC)...large safe/no hunting area for many years. Brought in young geese, did everything they could to get the goose population to grow. They succeeded beyond their expections:eek: . There is now a hugh number of local geese and they are worrying about the large numbers of geese. Great hunting:D but the real problems are in the populated areas, geese in large numbers are dirty and cause saftey problems and infringe on humans, domestic and other wildlife.

Note to CDOW...best let me help with lowering the numbers. Preston

And also the young go back to nest there the following year usually also.
Wish they would let me help lower the numbers :D
The farmers all cry about crop damage and the golfers and pedestrians all dont like the goose poo all over either but then, well, noone lets us hunt.
Kinda weird system up here I guess... Maybe I look like a renegade?

The farmers/landowners are making $$$ crop damage and off the leases to large hunting clubs/outfitters:(. Little guy has to use public(crowded/overhunted) lands:mad: .

As far as the goose poo goes...I carry my 110...doubles as a shoe scraper:rolleyes: :D . Preston

I guess I never looked at it that way! Its really hard to find land to hunt!
We are trying public land again this year- if its as bad as the last time I hunted it (or worse) Next year I am going to invest my Hunting license money into a BCCI club knife. And with the way our license fees have gone up I will have money left over for another 110 too!!!! LOL

 110 as a poo scraper!!! Thats a sin!!!!

Just to get back to the thread alittle bit, My first folding buck knife was a 525 memory series mallard in flight. I wore it out years ago... I have since replaced it with safe queens of the same model now :D

Goose,
We're not going quite as far as TJ but pretty near. Daughter #2 and family lives in Imperial Beach, so we'll be staying in south bay except for some excursions into downtown and perhaps to seaworld or the zoo with the grandkids. Oh yeah...I get to go on a ride along with the fuzz on my old beat.
