User or safe queen farmer?

Of course, you guys might all have secret stashes of knives (not so secret in Noodle's case) and you just don't want the competition...:D I thought the farmer was cool before I got one, but its even better in the hand. Now to figure out which is the best side-kick for it to have scissors. I'm thinking a compact, which are surprisingly tough to find here. well, not tough per say, but the price is a bit hard to take. maybe will have to wait until I take a trip back to the great white north.

So no one thinks they are going to keep climbing in value much past what they are now? or is it the sort of case where only the super-grade-A ones are going to get anything, and even slight flaws really tank it? I have no idea what collectors look for, I suspect anyone going for a farmer rainbow is really only going to interested in very nice examples. I know I'm walking the tightrope here on the "whats it worth" rules, and that is not my intention at all. Just trying to decide if I should bother investing on this one or not.
Seriously? If you are looking for investments, invest your money elsewhere than in SAKs. They simply aren't good investment vehicles. Perhaps a visit a financial planner is in order.

so what are these going for these days...NIB run that came in a special box and included a Vic Alox flashlight

Decided to use it. I'll enjoy it. I feel like the farmer belongs in the category of knife everyone should at least own for a little while.

The main part of the thought was if in one or two years I would very likely be able to get a couple hundred out of it, then keeping it safe would be the way to go. thats what I meant by investment. I'm not planning a retirement fund on SAKs although they would probably be as good as gold bullion after the collapse.:P Since I think that is very unlikely, and it will probably only end up worth a little more than a new silver model, its not worth the hassle, compared to how awesome it is as a knife. Since its not NIB and the worn user I was comparing it to is still up for sale, I'm not going to turn it over for some insane profit. I got a heck of a deal on it, and I'm very happy about that. I think anyone that wants a blue wants a mint one, and anything else is just a really nice knife to have, and right now, thats a win I'll take.

Boring, there were a couple sets on the bay, but not enough to get an idea on value.

The Victorinox Compact model is surprisingly expensive, even in America.
