Uses for AK-47

If the $$ are too much, consider a Waki instead. 90% of the performance at 50% of the price.

btw, they don't really work all that well in the machete role.
I might have gone that route if I hadn't already decided to not get a coated finish ever again. I used my CGFBM this weekend and beat a fair portion of the finish off of it. It's all satin or double cut from here on out.

Oh, you want a satin AK-47. $$$

Buy a CG AK or Waki, and invest 60$ in a Harbor Freight 1x30 and belts + strop. I had a thread about stripping my Waki, but the Search function seems to be FUBAR.

It would be a great for home defense if u don't own a firearm. Even if you own one, there's always the possibility of a jam unless you own a revolver pretty much. If an armed robber broke in I'm not sure the ak would help unless you can split a bullet;) but I would rather have an ak than almost anything else to keep in the closet or under a bed for a last ditch non-firearm

bm11, how is that search for the AK going for you?

What does this one do? It is undergoing a long term dust collection experiment in a closet. I know it's a shame....

They make a great heavy duty machete. My AK-47 does the work of a machete, axe, and draw knife. It can split large pieces of wood via batoning because of it's length which means you can get a large wet log and get access to a lot of good dry wood in the center. It's a hell of a weapon in the field if something nasty comes your way. And in a pinch... it's good light pry bar and wrecking bar. AK-47 + Badger Attack + Leatherman + Silky Big Boy = the only cutting tools I'll ever need in the woods.

Finally bit the bullet. As painful as it was, I paid the extra for the satin, because if I bought one that wasn't, I would kick myself over and over for it not being what I wanted.

Now I just need to bring myself to depreciate such an expensive blade by beating on it...

Jaxx, I think I need to borrow that thing to measure the snow we got in OHIO. Actually I think a Game Warden would work better. LOL

Meshach Taylor, the actor from Designing Women, bought the precursor to the AK-47 (The American Kensei) because he had three daughters who were dating at the time and he wanted to make sure that the boys brought them home on time.!!!!

He said that he had tried the "cleaning the shotgun" routine, but nothing quite had the same effect as wiping down his American Kensei when he met the boys at the door for the first time!!!!!

Now that's some funny stuff right there!!!!

Gonna have to remember that one when my daughter starts dating, hopefully sometime around her 40th birthday.

Whenever resingirl asks if she can have something or do something, I say, "Sure, when you're 23 and you're on your own."

Buying the AK47 just gives you more reason to get the heck out of town for a while. They are very fun to use and lighter than an NMFBM. The Ruck or Rucki is a very good option too.

I tend to agree, but it depends on the coating.
Black, Urban Grey and Tanker Grey came off way too easy so I stripped those off of most of my users, except for the Kubota colored Tanker/Pumpkin BWM.
Sage, Jungle Green and Arctic White are really tough and long lasting.
I haven't yet used Muddy, Bama Clay, Sand, Moss Green or any other color I might have forgotten.
Pretty much, I don't mind leaving Sage coated blades alone, but that is about it.
Double cut is alright if satin is not available, but it looks pretty bad after heavy use compared to satin.
