• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Uses for an Axe/Hatchet

A few days ago I was fortunate enough to use it for what I bought it for, field dressing a nice white tail! It made short work of opening the H bone and chest cavity I don't know how I ever mannaged with out one in the past! I don't think I would have even needed a knife.

I don't worry about splitting the pelvis, but I've started fully opening the rib cages of whitetails during field dressing. I've gotten tired of doing "blind" work with a sharp knife, not to mention getting bloody up to my elbows. The Gransfors WH I had last evening made short work of a large whitetail I had to find and drag from a rough Jack Pine thicket. Sure worth the little weight it adds to a pack.

Great point about working blind.
