Off Topic Using collectable or rare knives

In that case just made my collectable a little less collectable but better suited to my tastes. Might have some gitd scales for sale soon

I know that there are some that buy knives solely for the purpose of building a collection. I just do not have the money to buy knives that I am not going to use. I have bought knives that I get and then decide I do not like to carry or do not fit a specific purpose for me. I am going to get rid of the ones that don't get used and put that money to something I will use.

I used to use all my knives - at one point I stopped.
I own a C15 which I still use - no regrets.
I got it in 1991.

I use my HAP40 Stretch, Cru-Wear Manix 2 and PM 3, and XHP Manix 2 LW. Got good deals on them all, most of them coming to me as users, and I wanted to try out the steels on them all (except the XHP Manix and Cru-Wear PM3, I knew I loved the steels by then). I hate that so many people buy the sprint runs to turn around and never use them, selling many of them for absurd profit markups of the original price. I even use my sprint ZT 0450 in ZDP and 0095 in S90V. Sprint runs are meant to get some of a knife in a different flavor out, not make collector's items that never see the outside of their packaging.

I always buy knives to use them. If I don't like how they feel I either sell them or gift them off right away or stash them away to sell/trade at a later date.

My most used knives are CF Military sprints and CF C22 Walkers since imho they are among the best users Spyderco has every made. Too bad they aren't in regular production.

I use my most expensive knives. I DO have some knives that I keep purely as collectibles. This is because while I value some aspect of the knife I, after a bit of use, found I dislike them for EDC.

One sort-of Spyderco that falls into this latter category is my Solo SO-05. Great concept, lousy execution. Still, I keep it.

I don't even think of my Sprints as rare knives. I treat them like steel mules.
