Using Diamond Hones ??

If you double-sided tape on to a stone blank (as opposed to the tape blank), it should match fairly close to the rest of your stones.

Thom has a good point for anyone that is going to experiment with EzeLap hones on the EdgePro. Make sure the Diamond hone is attached to a "hone blank' not the thicker blank that is used with the polishing tapes.

Get this wrong and the angles go all to hell.

Picture below shows a medium Ezelap hone/blank combination and the 'blank' by itself at the bottom.

Looks like the 42 series is the needed one. Just hooked up my 41XC to a stone blank and it was thicker than my unused waterstones and my tape blank. :(

Thom.
My original order was for 42M ( without pedestal ).
What I received was a hone 1 x 6 x1/8th that perfectly matched the hone size EdgePro uses.

Thom,

Even though the 41 is slightly higher, I did not see a problem. From Geometry class, I expect that the slightly thicker stone will cut at an angle that is minimally smaller than the E/P stones, but I feel that the actual difference is so minute that you might not even notice it.

When you change to the E/P stones to the next finer grade, it will immediately grind off the minimal difference. The other thing to consider is that EZE-Lap doesn't have a 42XC - 42M is as low as the grit goes on the 42 model.

Ted,
I don't think it matters at all. It is so easy to adjust the angle and I find I am finer tuning as I go with the Sharpie keeping me informed.
I like to raise my angle a tiny bit as I progress from coarse to fine.
Less time and metal to be sharpened/polished.

However, if one was starting out from scratch, then it would be nice if all the hones were approximately the same thickness.
