Using Formax F26 for hand sanding

Hey guys, I've been using Formax during disc sanding for a while now since watching Nick Wheeler's blade finishing videos. I also follow his technique for hand sanding. I've been using Windex and Simple green for hand sanding and have liked the results. The other day I ran out of Windex and for some reason tried Formax on the Rhynowet sand paper I was using and was really pleased with how it seemed better than Windex. I felt it made the 180 and 220 grit more aggressive and the 400 grit finish was a better satin finish. I've thus far tried it on 3V and D2, which in my experience is more difficult to hand finish than carbon steel and AEB-L. So anything to speed up the process is welcome in my book.
Maybe this is common knowledge and I'm just late to the party but in doing a BF search nothing came up that I could find.
Or maybe this was my imagination and my eyes were glazed over from all the hand sanding but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if others have tried this and what their thoughts are.

Hmmm... can't say it doesn't make sense. I've not personally used Formax before, but I may have to pick some up and give it a try.

Mobil 1 works very well on carbon steel.

On Mr. Frank's advice I started using Mobile several years ago and haven'the seen any need to try anything else. It all but eliminates fish hooks and makes hand rubbing a blade much easier IMO.

That is pretty interesting info. I use machine oil start to finish on the bench. Maybe I'll try something a little heavier. I hate wearing gloves though.

The heat from sanding definitely thins the Formax to an oily consistency so it's probably the same phenomenon as using oil like Mobile 1. I'll have to try the oil and compare.

I'd really like to hear how it compares.
