As the title says how would say 1/4" kirinite hold up to being used as standalone (no steel or ti liners) scales on a friction folder?

I don't see why that wouldn't work, especially with a small blade around 4" or less. I do it with 1/8" G-10 all the time. I do use a back spacer though. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm not a fan of Kirinite, so take this as my opinion, but I think it isn't strong enough to be used as a linerless scale for a folder. G-10, sure, but not acrylic sheet.

Makers use it for straight razors all the time.

I was at Trugrit and they have got a bunch of pretty wild Krinite in.

I am waiting to see if they get in some Tortise shell in to make some friction folders with.

A straight razor scale does not really have to provide much in the way of structural integrity. It is more like an "attached sheath." i would not trust acrylic as folder scale material because it doesn't seem to have much in he way of rigidity compared to say G10.

I wouldn't do it. Not just because it is ugly as sin. :D
G10 has a figerglass fabric running through it which gives it it's strength. Kirinite is basically just the resin with no binders.

I don't make Razors or Friction folders but use Krinite on some of my Culinary knives and have had extremely happy customers with it over the years. I would try it and see what happens?👍
