• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

The snow on my deck has compacted and has layers of ice throughout. I already busted one snow shovel on it, so I broke out the trusty tomahawk to help break through the ice so I could shovel

I had a friend of mine put a chisel grind on a 5/16" thick piece of sheet steel, about 4 inch square. Then slot the end of a 5 foot piece of RMC heavy conduit, and weld the plate in place.

Its one HELL of an ice chipper - weighs about 10 pounds.

Love to see the look on the neighbors faces....
Hopefully you don't damage whatever is under the ice. A day in the sun- little ice melter works wonder if you have time.

Update: This probably isn't the best idea, in retrospect. The cold is definitely not good for the handle, my paint has flaked off and the epoxy is cracking :grumpy:
Probably ought have thought on the affects of cold on the tomahawk before using it.
On the positive side, I think this can be remedied with a bit of new epoxy or JB weld application.
This hawk will be saved yet.
