I wasn't sure where to post this, but I see other mailing related threads here so here it goes...

Going to the post office is not very convenient for me, so I have started using stamps.com to generate mailing labels for my shipments for the Exchange here on BF. I almost always use the small priority flat rate boxes to ship and when I wanted delivery confirmation I had to pay extra at the post office so it was always over $6 to ship. When I generate a shipping label using stamps.com the tracking number is included and the price is always $5.15. Then I just drop the box off at my work and it is much more convenient and saves me a little money. You do have to add money to your stamps.com account before you can ship so it might not be worth it if you don't ship very often.

I wasn't sure if other people were aware of this, and I am also interested in others feedback on using "stamps.com".

If you purchase your postage on line the delivery confirmation was always free and a bonus. Now, as of Monday and the new rates, the delivery confirmation feature is included in all Priority Mailing whether on line or the PO.

Pau;

Just saw a new/official sign (for me anyway) in the PO:

"Delivery Confirmation is now USPS Tracking".

Okay, good to know.

I print labels from my online USPS account. Price is cheaper and I can also order the free boxes. They also have a paypal option and it comes right out of my account, no need to add money to the account.

did you know about the on-line post office? this site is the USA post office. you first must register. then if you want to do a priority mail box shipped then you tell it where you are in which your address can be saved so you don’t have to keep retying it. then you tell it who you are shipping it to and there address and it you know there email address you can have there delivery confirmation emailed right to them. you also when processing the label you can say you want them to sigh for it or put insurance . when paying for this label you can pay for it in two ways that I know of. PayPal or your credit card. by the way it prints out of your computor with your printer and then you just use clear tape to put it on the box. you can just take it to the post office and use the drop box or tell them whare you would like for them to pick it up at when they are doing there regular mail run.

The last two times I used USPS.com to pay for and print a shipping label I was charged but the label wouldn't print. I complained but received no response. However, ebay/paypal printed shipping labels works flawlessly every time.

Nope, I was unaware that the USPS had this functionality on their website. Sounds like Stamps.com is just a little bit more powerful with more functionality geared towards small business owners. It was free to download so I thought I would give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. It also keeps a history of all of my mailings as well which is nice.

This is how I do it. It's so easy, the hardest thing about it is to copy/paste in the address.

This. All day for any sale. I also purchased a digital scale for about $20 and if I send anything other than flat rate, I can still print the label after weighing and some quick measurements. Easy peasy! Love it!
