I contain a USMC KA-BAR carbon steel fighting knife, which was fabricated in OLEAN, N.Y. Which was used by my grandfather in WWII when he was in the marines. This knife later on was passed on to my father when he too decided to join the army and then finally unto me. Needless to say the razor sharp edge and tip has worn and dulled over the many years. While at the same time the coloring in both the cowhide sheath, and the knife has dulled.
Now I seek to refurnish it and sharpen this beautiful blade. Unfortunetly I don't contain neither the tools or know how to do so myself. So what I'm asking is, if by chance, anyone with in the Langley/Vancouver vicinity of BC Canada knows of an area/shop/person that can be trusted to bring my KA-BAR back to life. Perhaps even be willing to teach me the proper techniques so I can later on keep the blade in tip-top shape?
