I saw that a while back Interesting show, but I question the utility of having them make the wooden bowl. That is a skill more suitable to a primitive living course than a military survival course.
I thought the part where the "rebels" traded with them was handled very poorly. Couldn't believe no command took over and they simply traded away their gear! what few calories they'd gain from that measly amount of food would not replace the calories burnt without the bags and clothing. At least they drew the line at trading off their knives It didn't seem like any of them knew why they were making the bowls though. I would have figured that would have been in the pre-field training. Maybe Marines train like we were taught in the Army: You get a live rocket launcher and THEN read the manual
I saw this show awhile back but I seem to remember the Marines carried a wide mouth canteen I have never seen anywhere else. I have rock climbed just outside the gate to this camp in the summer. I can imagine it is a lousy place to be in a blizzard. In fact in the past you could go onto the base and fish in the streams for trout.
