I use UPS quite a bit and so for have not had any Major problems as of now ( knock on wood ). We normaly ship US-Mail when the customer request it to be ship that way, and all oversea,s delivery we send USPS Global Priority just wish we could get a better Guarantee on delivery on other countries.

Of all the delivery services you mentioned, I've had the least trouble with FedEx. The USPS, UPS and FedEx have all lost items. FedEx has simply lost the least.

Hi Roger,
I hope that I don't put the hex on myself, but, I haven't had any problems with USP (I mean UPS)

as of yet. I would continue to use them.
I don't have too much experience with FedEx so I can't comment.

I would say USPS 3-day priority is the best for value. I have not had any lost items. I have had some damage with UPS but not with knives.

I ship quite alot with USPS Priority Mail, with "Delivery Confirmation", and I have NEVER had a problem. Their "tracking" SUCKS sometimes, but they haven't lost or damaged anything...Yet. (...Knock on wood!).

Most items (knives) ship for $3.55, and only take 2-4 days for delivery. UPS can't even COME CLOSE to that "price value".

Priority Mail USPS. Faster, cheaper, less loss. The only problems I've ever had are delays. UPS hasn't lost anything for me, but they have done stuff that wasn't very nice to my cousin. Like damage everything in his box by drop kicking it around and stuff (expensive guitar parts!). Also, they left live ammunition on the porch when it clearly said adult signature required. Especially bad, because no one was home at the time!

Hey Roger....

First off Thanks for the knife...

As far as shipping to Canada,, what happens when you ship USPS global priority,, as soon as it hits Canadian soil, it gets transfered over to a Courier (PurKulator), and they automaticaly slap it with their own brokerage fee,,somewhere between $35.-$50.00CDN (Bastids)

I've also found that it doesn't get here much sooner than regular Air Mail, because once it hits Canada,, it only takes a couple of days to arrive....

So as far as I'm concerned,, I'd prefer Good old USPS Air Mail over Global Priority Anyday.

Couriers as far as I'm concerned,, unless it has to be there the next day or something are Useless and Expensive.
I'll wait the extra couple of days for sure!

I've been mail-ordering for years. Not much comes by FedEx, but a lot of USPS (my own employer!) and UPS. No trouble, not ever. There were a couple of orders that took longer than others, but I never had a package damaged, out of literally hundreds.

I used to recommend Express Mail for the same reason FedEx does so well: it moves so fast, there's less chance for anything to go wrong, and as a premium product, the employees tend to treat it more seriously. USPS Priority is also more reliable because it is expedited.

FedEx if you have anything of value you are shipping, never a problem. You get what you pay for. Next UPS, the occasional tire marks, and rumors of opened packages; USPS last by a mile, tire marks, surly employees, you name it ...

I've never had any trouble with USPS or UPS delivering my knives (and other stuff) timely and intact, so far. However, when I absolutely need something to arrive safely and on time, I use FedEx.

Right now I'm waiting on the delivery of a custom and wishing that I had asked for an upgrade on shipping to FedEx, so that I could tell exactly where on this planet my knife is -- not that it's really overdue (Monday being a holiday probably screwed things up), but I really hate not knowing.

USPS Priority 2nd or 3ed day is the best overall deal in the shipping business. They'll even give you a free box to use.

FedEx is the Cadilac of shippers though. They are so nice to work with. I was expecting an important package one day (airline tickets back before e-ticketing) and I stepped out for just ten minutes. My neighbor needed some help. When I got back, sure enough, there was the tag. I'd missed it. I called their 800 number to ask when and where I had to go to picked it up and she said, "Can you hold for a moment?" "Of course". Music. "I just spoke to your driver and he's gonna swing back. He'll be there in about twenty minutes." And he was. Of course, I gave him a beer. He said he'd keep it for later.

Fed Ex is the only company that really does package tracking. They can tell you where your package is down to the foot. I've literally had them say, "Your package is on a truck that is west-bound on Tualatin-Sherwood Road and just went through the intersection with Oregon Street. If you'd like, I can message the driver and ask when he expects to be at your house? They literally know where every package is every minute of every day. Incredible.

I prefer USPS, because it's the cheapest method to me.
I've nerver had any problems with it. From that I make the order to the point I get the package it takes 1-2 weeks, but there's no hurry...
(I've used UPS only once. The question was about an Italian shop and they sent the package Tuesday morning. I got it Wednesday afternoon - boy it was fast!

I prefer USPS Priority Mail.

The worst carrier is UPS. I never know what to expect from them. Had a UPS delivery last week, they left my package with a neighbor and neglected to notify me. I had to trace the shipment through their on-line system to find out where it had gone. What a hassle.

From my own experiences, and what I've heard from other Finns, USPS has been very good when shipping to Finland (of course it's transferred here to the Finnish post, but I've never heard them lose anything...) But when you need some extra security (expensive knife), I would recommend FedEx letter. They are fast, have good tracking (you can monitor the package yourself through their web-page) and they also have some insurance.

Hugo.

I prefer USPS; USPS normal airmail or if I feel that I want my knife fast USPS Global priority mail (flat rate envelope). In Finland our post delivers USPS Gl. pr. mail as super express mail. This is quite good collaboratin deal for USPS as super express letter costs IN Finland about the same as USPS G p m (flat rate envelope is 9$).
