I'm wondering if anybody has experienced this and what recourse I have. I am going to the PO today to see what they have to say, but wanted to see if any of you have any experience with this sort of thing.

I ordered three knives from a large online knife shop. I had them mailed to my PO box. They promptly shipped and e-mailed my my delivery confirmation number. I can see online that the USPS claims the package was "delivered" on the 21st. I went in to pick up the package yesterday after work, but my box was empty. It was after hours, so no staff were around.

Any advice?

I have had similar experiences with UPS but not USPS. Hopefully the Postmaster can help you out. I think that they can track stuff with alot more detail than we see on our tracking screens. Hopefully they can see where it went and who scanned it as delivered. Good Luck!

Go back during the day when someone is there to actually help you?

"Delivered" just means "delivered somewhere", not necessarily "delivered to the correct addressee." Best bet is act quickly to interrogate the letter carrier before his/her recollection disappears. They may have put the knives in the wrong box, or the package wouldn't fit in your box and they forget to put a note in it.
