I have never had an issue with USPS until a few days ago after I shipped my package I noticed the automated label read a different city/zip code, called and was assured that it didn't matter, customer service was rude and didn't understand my straight forward question of 'will it be misrouted because of that label' he said 'they go by what I wrote on the package'

Misrouted now with no update on tracking, somewhere my Benchmade 741 is sitting in a box.

So I called USPS back and after 4 times dealing with that automated abortion and being routed to a busy signal and hung up on... Because it's a 'smart system' I decided to use my cell phone to call, as if by magic a customer service guy answers, is completely helpful and assigns me a case number, told me a postal inspector will be on it in one business day.

I'll post more as this developes, hopefully with my knife getting to Ryan Vaughn to get pimped.

why didn't you check it before it printed out?? I always check it and when I go to tape in on the box I check it again just to make sure I am shipping it to the right address. I never had a lost package yet.

I really hope it gets sorted out. For the most part I've had very good success shipping USPS as long as it's Priority with DC. Otherwise I have had some problems.

Although problems are rare I guess when it happen to you it really sucks! to say the least.

I really hope it gets squared away quickly.

Best of luck!

It was supposed to be delivered last Friday, still haven't heard from the postal inspector, if I don't hear back by tomorrow morning I'll be calling again, still no update on the tracking number.

I started a thread not long ago about the USPS they have misrouted almost every package sent to me these last few months one example they changed [ Crossed out the right zip code and wrought in a different one ] This package ended up going thru every Post Office in the Chicago area . When I called I also got the run around until I asked to speak to someone in management nice lady finally resolved this for me but it was a major hassle . Now every time I expect a shipment I never know where it will end up most of the time its a company 2 blocks away different address all together they no me know so they just call me and I go pick it up . Good luck to you hope you have better luck than me.

I talked with the postal inspector today, she said it's not in her area and that she'll send an email to the location that had it last. She also said at this point if nothing happens I have to wait for 3 weeks from the last update before I can file for insurance.

For some reason she thought my wife sent the package even though I sent it, labeled it and insured it, not sure what that's about.

She confirmed that their printed labels are what are used for routing, the opposite of what I was told when I called their 1-800 number. I should have ran back to the store and asked to get it labeled properly, but chose to trust their BS customer service.

Long story shot, I'm getting passed off to another (hopefully) shining example of customer service and my package is still missing.

This is just another fine example of how our government works, anytime I have had verbal dealings with Post office, I never get the same story twice, they are never on the same page, it is a wonder it runs as well as it does.

Last update for this thread (hopefully) my package made it to the knife pimper... Suddenly being found after a postal inspector gets involved. :) confirmed no damage to my knife. Chalking this one up as a learning experience and minor irritation.
