I haven't been around and haven't shipped anything in a few months. Forgive me if this has been asked.
But, since when does a small flat rate box shipped Priority default to 3 day rather than 2 day? :thumbdn:
I printed a label online this morning and was surprised to see that after it had been all paid for and finalized.
I didn't notice any 2 or 3 day option when I was selecting the type of service. But to be fair, I've done it so many times I wasn't paying extremely close attention because I expected it to automatically be 2 day.

I just feel bad because I traded with a new guy who shipped first and held up his end of the bargain perfectly.
I was hoping my end would get to him in 2 days. I know It's only 1 more day, but when you're waiting for a package an extra day feels like a year. :(

There's still 1, 2, 3 day Delivery times.

Depends on the origin, destination, and the distance...

ETA: Here's a Link. Just enter your Zip Code. >>> LINKY.

I have shipped stuff 2 day and it takes 3,4,5,6 days. I'm on the east coast, and this happened 2 times when shipping to AZ
They send it to california, process for couple days then ship to AZ.

Nothing is flawless, it just happens sometimes.

No, I mean the label now reads "Priority Mail 3 Day."
As far as I can remember it's always read "Priority Mail 2 Day."

See the above Link I added.

Never seen that before.
I swear it's ALWAYS said 2 day on the label before, no matter where I've shipped in the CONUS.
Maybe I'm just oblivious and never noticed it before.
Or maybe in the dozens of times I've shipped Priority they've all magically been in the medium blue zones...

If you read the fine print they have no guarantees on date. I had a 2 day Priority take 9 days a few weeks ago. Luckily it was from a friend so I knew it had been shipped for sure (less stress).

It's been 2-3 day priority not late till the fifth day, for a while. If it bothers you that much, look into Fedex or UPS or pay the extra $50 and have it over nighted. If we ever trade blades, you guys should overnight my knife.:D

It has never been a guarantee of 2 days. If I remember correctly, cost cutting measures have slowed things down a bit more in the past year or so.

This. Within the last two years or so I haven't gotten 1 priority package on time, they are consistently AT LEAST 2 days late..

For most of the country it takes me two days, but I am in the middle of the country. (Texas) USPS is still by far the cheapest and fastest option, since a flat rate box starts at about 6$. I had a package finally delivered to me last week via FedEx after it took them 9 days, including the last three where the tracking said it was in Montgomery (my town!) ups ground is terrifically slow and it's expensive too

I've only used USPS. Why? Because it's less expensive and it works. In the last year, I've shipped about 60 knives give or take. I've never had a package open or come later than 6 days. If I remember correctly, 5 days has been the longest with most packages arriving safely in about 2-3 days. Not bad IMO. When I ship a blade I always try and tape all the edges (of the package) that have a potential to open while in transit.

Though USPS has worked for me, I've heard (from a friend of mine that owns and manages a Postal Annex) that USPS workers take a kind of "Oh well" attitude towards boxes that appear to be opening or losing their integrity. Unless they are in a handling station, the compromised boxes will not be taped, fixed or remedied. FedEx, and UPS on the other hand, will fix the compromised boxes, whether the package be in a sorting facility, in transit, or out for delivery the boxes will be addressed.
I'm sure not every UPS and Fed Ex worker makes and effort to restore packages, but I've heard the companies stress fixing them where as USPS doesn't stress it as much.

IMO, "technology enhancements" is a better description than "cost cutting" -- USPS now has a more accurate read on the time it takes to move goods from point A to point B, and they are candid and truthful about it. If I ship Priority near within 100 miles, I get a label with 1-day, while I have seen 3-day as well. Technology has moved to a point where one can now print First Class labels for international destinations online, as well as all the way First Class tracking to Canada (which is cool, BTW), and add a SCAN form during pickup (so the picked up package gets scanned then and there, and gets entered into the tracking system immediately). I always ship USPS, and though they may not sound professional and are slow, they are absolutely reliable for the money you pay (never lost a package in the last 6 yrs or so). Show me a provider where you can get that reliability for a mere $6 flat rate! And the sender is responsible for the packaging, not the carrier. ;-)

@OP: Relax, USPS has better technology now that they can give you a more accurate read on the delivery times, and pretty much the ability to reach every nook and cranny of the US (and international destinations). Enjoy $6 flat rate.

No way associated with USPS, but find it funny when people start comparing $6 flat rate reliability to $50 FedEx or UPS. You want absolute reliability? Add Registered for $12 more, and relax.

They have been doing this lately with me...took them two weeks to send a package to MA after I was quoted a delivery Monday.
