USPS - "Your order has shipped."

The advantage of having a computer and some USPS forms means you can ship anything without actually shipping it....

Might as well have just put the tracking# in the ebay listing, shipped before it's sold, now that is top notch service.

Gotta say it is pretty lame when they update the tracking, but it doesn't actually get processed for a 3-4 days.

I don't understand if they can pay and print off a label at home, why does it take so long to actually ship it out?

At that point all they have to do is leave it for the mailman to pick up or drop it in a blue box, they don't have to go to the PO.

People are lazy and they forget..then they just blame the USPS. I have 3 people on my mail route that are "internet sellers". I get pick up notices on a daily basis. 2 of the 3 are spot on with leaving their items for me as instructed. The other guy is horrible. Never has his stuff ready.

With the new "real time" tracking system we just started- things will be different. USPS now uses GPS to track scanned packages. I have to leave pre/post delivery events...."Left at door".."in mailbox".."handed to customer" The boss can look up an item # and see if I was at your door or your neighbors door when I scanned your package. It's pretty intense.

It would be nice if the notices said "Label printed on 12/6/14 at 9:51PM ET for shipment 12/8/14". But as for now, the notices just say that it is shipped when the label is created regardless of the date on the label or if there will actually be a post office open for the next 36 hours....

I have had notices that said, "Shipping label generated" buying from Ebay.

When I pick these packages up from their houses I am required to scan them as "Package pre-paid accepted" and the Priority ones make me enter the destination zip code. I'm not sure what will show up when you look it up online. The USPS internal site will show more info.

Seems like he paid for and printed the label at nearly 10pm at night most likely from his home. Post office is most likely closed at 10pm on a Saturday and all day on Sunday so he will ship it Monday. What is the problem here? Am I missing something? If so please enlighten me.

I get this on nearly every deal. Even if it is not emailed to me when I check the tracking this is what it says.

Invention is the mother of necessity! :D

I've been doing a lot of Christmas shopping online and ebay. The best one was the cologne that was shipped but never updated for ten days when I asked the eBay seller if it shipped I got a refund and no explanation. A lot of my purchases have been showing shipped for days before they actually shipped it. Usually have good luck on eBay but about half my purchases the sellers have been sitting on it awhile before actually shipping it out but have tracking numbers day's before.

It is misleading for sure; shame on you USPS.
I would recommend to NEVER drop off a USPS package without getting it scanned.

I never had a problem until one day a package got lost for a week inside the post office. For a week it said "electronic shipping info received." I also would not be able to make an insurance claim because as far as the USPS is concerned; they never received it.
They finally found it; but that was a lesson learned.

Now when I have to ship USPS, I have to block off 2 hours of my day to personally wait in line and get a package scanned.

9:50 PM Saturday from ePrey seller:

9:51 PM Saturday from USPS:

Nice to know that the meaning is that there is no meaning.

LOL, yes Thomas you are right it only means that the shipping label has been generated, you would need to actually enter tracking number at USPS site to get the real scoop, and if it isn't scanned yet, it will say that shipper has notified them of a shipment basically and they don't have custody of it yet. I print labels at all hours of the day and night, but only make one trip to PO per day, so when I print on Saturday after hours and Sunday, it will not be at PO until Monday. eBay and paypal both send shipping messages after labels are generated and again you are right, it means nothing until you check further.

That's nothing. I had a knife due last Tuesday and didn't show up for another 3 days due to the Black Friday mail tsunami. Your knife should get to you before Christmas.

Yup, it means nothing and there is no problem here.

I'm with you guys, if anything it's a positive. When I was still working in a warehouse we did this all the time to gain some lead time and organization.

^^^^^^^ Calm down there buddy....think about it.
Sounds like the guy is actually being very good at communicating.
Label was just printed and can not be shipped until Monday - he is essentially telling you that.

Now, in other cases, the shipping company does get the bad rap as internet sellers do this all the time. This time of year they get behind, process the shipping/order in a carriers system > but then do not actually give it to the carrier for several days. It's easy to blame the USPS, FedEx, or UPS.
