USPS

First time ever I have had a possible package theft by a carrier. I had an Etsy package go missing at the shippers end, but Etsy protected both of us. Several weeks later I started to get package updates. Finally, the delivery date arrives and I see it was “delivered” off schedule in the morning instead of the normal afternoon time. I go and check to find an empty mailbox. Check my camera and there’s nothing on it. Hmm. Opened a missing mail ticket and wait. Next day they tell me that it’s marked as delivered, so case closed. I opened an appeal and I’m waiting.

Either that package is cursed, or it’s being used as some sort of internal investigation. Etsy sure did pay quickly with no explanation or questions asked. 🤔

My favorite recollection of delayed mail was a letter that arrived folded, spindled and mutilated. USPS placed the letter in a special envelope with the cellophane window. The envelope read, "We care about your mail."

This letter arrived maybe a year or so after it was posted.

Im pretty sure i know what mail system youre in....its a place where they dump troublemakers that cant be fired. not kidding. I own a house in that mail system and ive had packages stolen by a deliverer. I know the idiot in charge of that post office and hes a clown. he knows my name well. we have a long and ugly history spanning years. he once decided my stolen package was in the bushes at that house and actually came over and dug through the bushes...even though I showed him camera footage that no one ever stepped foot on the property or put anything in the mailbox. I threatened to go over his head and the very next day the package shows up...opened up and packaging and such gone and retaped up all wrong. he knows he has thieves, drunks drinking during their shift and other troublemakers that work there.......this all sounds slanderish, but its all true and I could tell stories that would horrifying you. ive gave up complaining and trying to get someone at the usps to do anything years ago. I truly believe they do not care at all.......

I doubt hes retired yet since seems same nonsense is still going on....ill pm you his name and phone. he never answers though
..you have to file a complaint before he'll call you......

The workers there will usually not immediately scan the items in, so your tracking information will say awaiting item. This can to on for 2 days.

They will if you ask.

Since I lost a package with 3 Hinderers after they were provably picked up by USPS, but never entered their tracking system, I drop knife boxes off at the USPS office, have them scan it and ask for a receipt. Since then, I had no issues.

Wow. that's a big loss! If I ever start to sell off my hoard, I'm going to use PirateShip since their insurance actually pays out on loss.

It seems all forms at USPS are designed to collect as little information related to the lost mail as possible. Makes it easy to close the tickets early and often!

I have one going on at the moment that's a bit of a head-scratcher, and which could be like the scam posted above.

On Saturday, the USPS app displayed a tracking number for a package in Greenville, SC which is the hub our mail flows through. ("Flow" not always representing the correct operative term.) I did not have an unaccounted for order which would be coming via the mail.

So, I've watched it now for the last six days and the status continues daily to be "moving through network" despite no updates since being "accepted" and "arriving" at the Greenville Distribution Center.

I'm not out anything, and nothing funky going on with my financial accounts, but maybe this was one of those schemes to post a sham review for some piece of garbage.

On the other hand, a knife maker I respect greatly ships from that area, (though I have no current order). So, basically I'm stumped. But not concerned.

I’ve been thinking about that “scheme,” and I wonder how it was determined to be for getting reviews and not anything else. Why 10 packages or only 1? Why some empty others not?

Is the sender using postal tracking to see if packages were delivered? I don’t really get it and how the “victims” are chosen.

I wonder if they’ve analyzed the packages for anything else including spyware or chemicals.

I noticed they like ground advantage!

ETA: the irony! People getting unwanted packages and everyone else getting angst.

I don't have an answer for you, Ann. I haven't put a lot of thought into it, but I will keep you updated if there is any change in the situation I reported.

Not sure if it's nefarious or simply the USPS being the USPS. (But there was no shipper name provided, which is usually not the case.)

I like answers! Also, interesting that cluster of recipients is on same news TV channel. With AI, who knows?! To me, it’s creepy considering the level of weird out there. Maybe someone’s AI agent went on a shopping spree. They spent some $!

Didn’t know GA was choice used for hazardous materials!

“USPS Ground Advantage offers affordable, reliable shipping for packages up to 70 lbs, with prices starting at $7.90 at retail post offices and as low as $5.50 for commercial users. It features 2-5 day delivery, includes up to $100 in insurance, and is the primary, cost-effective option for ground-shippable hazardous materials.”

My parents live 4 hours from my aunt. My aunt mailed a birthday card to my mom and it only took 31 days to get there!
