Bought a Knife last week (Mad Dog Operator) and when it arrived at my house the Priority box had been opened, emptied of foam peanuts and re wrapped in Saran wrap. Contents intact and undamaged though. This happened to anyone else as of late?

I got a knife from Austria and the customs bastards in some country opened the box, took the knife (mint condition Crawford custom) out of its pouch, then threw it back in the box with some packing without putting it back in the pouch.
I am lucky it was not damaged.

Maybe they thought it would rust in the pouch :D

I have never had trouble with a properly packaged product, but I have received some items in flimsy boxes that had been ripped open. I have also never lost anything.

Hi,
My wife and I operate an Ebay antique business. She finds and writes up items, I list, pack and ship. We had a few problems with shipping early on. I underestimated how rough things are treated. Even though items are marked Fragile and bubble wrapped, this may be not enough.

I now double box and bubble wrap inside and outside the inside box. This has greatly increased the percentage of safe delivery.

Also, always pay insurance, and delivery confirmation. For expensive items consider signature confirmation. Priority Mail is quite effective for me with free boxes, tape, and labels. Good luck, Peter aka agreatscot :D

One of the benefits of priority mail is the ability to have the USPS look into something like this. All priority packages are logged into each facility they enter. This includes condition of the box and it's weight.

Give them a call.....................

Man, you NEVER want to mark a package with "fragile"...That's just ASKING for trouble! Some gorillas who work at the USPS take that as a challenge to toss the package even harder than "normal".

I have never had a package within the US opened but I have heard that with the new threat of terrorist this summer they are looking at packages a little more closely.
I had the honor of haveing the last trade with Billious and that package did look as if it was opened and searched several times before it got to me.The knife was in perfect shape when it got here though.By the time they opened it and repacked it a half dozen times it would have held up to anytning, took me a while to get it unpacked.
