Good people who have nothing better to do than hang about on this forum and spend too much money on Emerson Knives, yes I mean you - The USUAL SUSPECT.

Do you know who we are? Is there a definitive list? I think not, so this is your chance - are you a Usual Suspect and why?

Regards,

Ed
Usual Suspect

PS My answer, I love custom Emersons and am always looking for new ones. I do like EKI products better than any other production knife, but customs are where it is at for me. I think I got the handle in the early part of 2000 - around the time I got my first CQC6.

Why? Uhhh. I fell in love with the CQC6 first time I laid eyes on it. Had to have one.

On the production side, I was at an "Urban Carbine" class with a now infamous Florida Knife Dealer. The talk came to knives and specifically Emerson Productions knives. I'd seen a "Raven", too spongy for my tastes. I'd seen the "Specwar", blade a little thin for my taste.

Earl pulls a ('98)Commander out of his pocket, thumbs it open and hands it too me. My eyes sparkle, my mouth goes dry. "NOW YOUR TALKIN' !!"

Beautiful recurve, rock solid feel, sharp as a laser. I'm in love!!

"Ohhh, check this out" POWW!!, he waves it open.

 . . . . :) . . . . :D

It went home with me and I've been "waving" since.

I had been lurking around the Emerson Forums for a while. I found out that Suspects are my kind of people.

I was following all the discussions about the virtues of the ’98 Commander. I knew that I had to have one but I wanted a user. John offered one for sale with micarta slabs and a satin finish and I’ve been addicted ever since.

Hilton helped me get an undated CQC6 which increased the speed of my slide into poverty. As Hilton said, once you buy a custom, the price of the others doesn't seem so bad. I don't think the twitch in my eye is very noticeable now when I reach for the checkbook.

Every time my wife asks about the blades, I try to blame you, John.

Honey, they're the kids inheritance...yeah, that's it...they're an investment.

Buzzing in from the West Coast. Why-my first two fit my hands like a glove and they flow very well for me-Blk oxide contoured handle 8 and an original Rogue Warrior, after that, simple addiction and the thrill of the hunt. Ernie's blades just work very well for me, and I love good gear, no matter what the cost. I usually don't beat on my Emersons, but they are my first line off-duty carry knives. On-duty I carry a Strider/Emerson mix (liking Striders is also a Suspect requirement).

*rubbing at my bleary eyes, trying to focus after so many hours of obsessing over forums, comparing minute differences of similar customs, and of course... counting the change I find in the couch hoping to afford another Emerson!)*

Oh, did I forget to say "HERE!!!"

I probably need to chime in here! I've developed a taste for The Emerson Custom tactical as well as the "Pre-tactical".

For any of you who have not seen the customs I own most all of them are depicted on my photo-point gallery at ddeckert@kscable.com

I've been updating the site with lots of new high definition photos, so I'm warning those of you with slow modems that it could take a while to load some of the photos. - But then the detail is pretty remarkable!

Sign me up as well!

I have liked Emerson Knives since the first time I laid eyes on a CQC6. My first Emerson designed knife was a BM Emerson... but my next one came 6 years later and was a no-date, zero bevel CQC6 :D .

Emerson the only way to go!

Great Northern 'Suspect', eh?

Chiming in from Northern Canada boys...started back in '98 with a production CQC-6B and went on from there. I've owned hundreds of other production knives but don't get the same "feel" from them if you know what I mean. An Emerson (of one type or another) has been at my side daily, on and off duty, and I can quite literally say that I 'owe' my personal security to an Eemerson.

No customs YET but there is no doubt in the near future...;)

Present!

It was the qualities of the Usual Suspects that got me interested in the knives. The comments and posts in this forum were enlightening, futher it was evident that this IS a real community, one That I wanted to be a part of.

So my logic was simple; Where you find good men, you'll find good tools.

I'm here! :D

Got hooked on Ernie through Dick Marcinko. Don't have a custom yet, although I'm planning to get one. Almost ordered a 6 in '94, but, then, $425 seemed a LOT for a knife. And, yes, I still kick myslef regularly for that decision.

I'm here...It all started with an E-1B Raven. Quickly I had every production Emerson being made in my collection. After carrying and using them all I narrowed it down to the ones that really did it for me. Now I pursue the ellusive Emerson Custom...that's AFFORDABLE! :D You GOTTA LOVE the 98 Commander though!
