Usual Suspects Wives/Girlfriends carry?

Okay, I've been wondering how many of you guys not only have wives/girlfriends who tolerate your love of knives, but also how many of us are lucky enough to have wives/girlfriends who actually carry a blade.
My wife has always been very good about my knife interests, but until recently I couldn't get her to carry. What changed all of that? Ahhh, a wonderful little California-legal automatic from ProTech called the Jazz Runt with a nice mirrored blade. Seems she was peeking over my shoulder one evening when I was surfing the blade sites and suddenly she whispers "Oooooh, very pretty!" when she saw the Jazz Runt. THAT was the first time I ever noticed her having genuine interest in any knife, so now it's hers and she loves it. My knife-life is now easier than ever.

Get your chicks interested in blades, guys. Let them choose a blade that THEY like, and suddenly she'll better understand your fondness of knives.

I always try and share my love of knives with everyone, girlfriends included. My previous girlfriend even used to wear an Emerson la griffe when she went jogging!

My best buddy is female. Her daily carry includes not only a '98 Commander, Spyderco G10 Harpy (converted to lefty carry) and JSP Credit Card Knife, but she also packs a Glock G19C.

LMFAO, John! My GF is a literal Southern Belle from NC (knew Michael Jordan when she was at Chapel Hill, even). She's afraid of all things "dangerous", and I can't seem to convince her that these "dangerous" things wouldn't be so, as much, if she knew how to use/work/shoot/ride/open/handle them. Hell, I got my SOCFK back from Kevin, and the first thing I did (OK, maybe the second... or third
biggrin.gif
) was go over to her place to show it to her. Her response? "It scares me". So, I opened it for her, let her hold it again (God, this is starting to sound pornographic...) and explained how it worked, the parts to it, how Kevin had modified it, etc. Still got an "it scares me". This woman thought "The Mummy" was too violent... and I don't think I've told her about the Beretta. I LIKE having her come over, you know.

So, I think her take on all this is "boys will be boys". But, I love her anyway.

One recent girlfriend had issues with my wanting here to carry a knife. Wouldn't go near one at all (But she did want a Glock G26, go figure).

I took her to a gun/knife show and kept soliciting her opinion on different knives. Finally, she sees a CRK&T Peck. She loves it, it's "cute". I buy it and she carries it to this day. It only has a one inch blade, but we did some work on defensive use of a small blade and she is very comfortable with it.

Then she sees the Spyderco Cricket, "Ew, I want that one". Now she had two knives. Then I buy her a credit card knife that resides in her check book (which she is NEVER without).

Before she knows what happened, she's carrying three knives.

Now I'm starting all over again. My latest "intrest" doesn't carry a knife, voted for Gore and is afraid of firearms. Here we go again . . . good thing for her she's cute as Hell!

As for my Commander packing buddy, here she is shooting an IDPA match. Commander in one pocket, Harpy in the other.

John

That's a really sweet "Commander" John.

As for the Gore Voter...

I can't help it John...I can't, will we still be friends...women are like a big MTA Bus, one comes along every 20 minutes or so...

I'm feeling ill..."Gore" was mentioned in the same Posting as "Commander."

Too...much...Tabasco...on...scrammmmled...

I married my Amy 6 years ago. The Commander was not even thought of in Public yet as far as Emerson goes.

Oddly enough, I used to listen to "The Greaseman" on WWDC-101 out of Washington, D.C. years ago...he is from Florida, then he went back there I think...anyway, he referred to his Wife as "THE COMMAND-AH!"

Well, I have been calling Amy "The Commander" since we got married, helluva coincidence that would also be the name of my most favorite knife one day. Seems fitting actually. (Please no "Wave Opening" jokes, she is my Sweetheart)

She was in lust with a SpecWar I bought her. That was stolen.

She is packing 2 Spyderco Merlins (Harpy Blade) and a CRK&T Kasper Mini. And a Second Chance Vest...standard fare for Marylanders.

But you know what? You can search this Forum and see what I wanted for her...a Production Version of the CQC-9 Eagle. Thumb Hole, positive opening...and a hook blade with a more reliable (liner) lock.

Well, now we have the sharpened, pointy tip PSARK on the horizon, which I think should be re-named, "The Shark."

I'm sure that between the slightly hooked blade it has and the grip, she will love it.

Don - LMFAO! I LOVE that smiley! Dude - send it to me, or tell me where I can find it! Please!

I know you guys're gonna hate me now (we can still be friends, right?), but I voted for Gore too.

And remember, Dubya's first official act was cancelling Clinton's executive order banning clear cutting of national forests for logging... when the country's f-ed up, don't come running to me... my .02 - don't mean to start a "political" debate/war.

John - how does she get the wave to function when it's in her hip pocket?

See2

I carry mine in my rear pocket also. It actually works as good or better from there. The young lady pictured is a pure professional when it comes to Commanders. She can draw equally well from any pocket. When she uses her righty Commander in a left pocket, it comes out in a "Ice Pick" grip.

A local dealer has her demo Commanders at shows. Her "Display Case" looks better then mine.

I need to grab that '98 Commander from her for a day and get a shot of it for ya'll. She stripped the Black-T completely off and left a rough, grey metal under neath. The lasered logo is kind of a ghost image. Very bad looking.

I had her show it to Derek when he was down in November and he thought it was pretty sharp looking too.

I live in Maryland, a Democrat-controlled State.

I would probably not be in this Forum right now if it were not for them.

I was an Alarm Service Investigator/Technician for almost 9 years. The Employer had eradicated the Policy on Firearms Permits, meaning, they would not send the letter to The Maryland State Police necessary for me to obtain a Handgun Permit (to carry) in this State.

Instead, I turned to Spyderco and Cold Steel, Inc. and MagLites to have some Protection. That evolved into a desire to have and a love for all of the latest technological advancements in Defensive Weaponry. Those first Defensive Tools evolved into ASP Batons, SureFire Flashlights (both of these I was carrying thanks to The Cutlery Shoppe in Boise, Idaho way before any Law Enforcement Agency in Maryland permitted their use) and more advanced Edged Weapons, a Bud Nealy Custom Aikuchi and a Benchmade Emerson CQC-7 and an AFCK.

Everything kept evolving in my own personal set of Defensive Tools.

So, in an odd sort of way, I have the Democrats and their screwy gun laws to thank for this love of "Exotic" Self-defense items, my increased awareness and streetsmart mindset and exposure to the Filipino Martial Arts as I needed some skill with those ASPs and Edged Weapons.

Other than that...as far as The Democratic Party goes...no comment. I like it around here and I love my friends around here and I would rather put the rest aside and talk about what we love here.

By the way See2, the web address for the massively cool Puke Smiley.

I'm sorry to hear that fellas, that really sucks ass. Good luck to you all that are having problems and keep your chin up.

Don - thanks for the address, and the history. It's cool finding out about all of your backgrounds - makes me feel like I know all you guys better!

As for the political sh*t - again, you're right. Consider it buried.

You live in Maryland, huh? Ever been to Arundel Mills?

Cat, Laser, I'm sorry to hear about the relationship thing. A wise man once said "You know, this boy/girl sh*t can really suck sometimes." Words to live by, my friends.

See2,

You mean the new mall that we did not need but they built anyway? Yeah...once, it sucks. Hahahahahahaha

It is about 4 miles south of me.

SUCKS?! Don, you wound me... that's my baby. Spent two years helping design it... now, granted, the Mills Corp. really doesn't need to drop a mall in every town in every state, and I've had my life threatened by mentioning it in MD (a nice Russian cabbie-so friendly!-said he should kill me me rather than bring me to the site one day), but SUCKS? Ouch. Well, what can I say? The show me money, and point to a piece of land, and off I go. I'm already damned for eternity for all the trees that were wiped out to build it... and now they're unleashing me on St. Louis! Mwah ha ha ha haaaaaa... but I digress.
