I have been on BFC for about half a year now and I still don't know what the Usual Suspects are.

Go look around the Emerson Knives forum. Do a search on Usual Suspects and you will be enlightened.

We are a mysterious race. Often shunned by society, often criticized by our peers... actually, we're just guys (and girls - gotta include everyone) who love Ernie's knives.

Easily recognized by our asbestos underwear and floor scraping knuckles, many Usual Suspects spend their free time doing volunteer work as Flame Thrower Qualification Targets for various and sundry other BFC members who cannot appreciate EKI knives.
Stop by the Emerson Forum sometime. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

Actually, the phrase was coined by Les Robertson referring to those of who pine for Emerson customs. Though I believe he originally said it in a half joking, condescending way, we adopted it as our creed. Simply put, it is a state of mind(or lack thereof).

Great group of guys they are, very knife oriented and not just Emersons.

Definition from the "Gallery (currently under renovation):

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">"<U>Usual Suspect</U>" - Term coined by Les Robertson in 01/99. A person that frequents and participates in the Emerson Forum on BF.com. In fact it should be considered synonymous with "Frequent Participant". Custom ownership is not required, just enthusiasm for the products.</font>

I just thought a lot of people loved the movie Usual Suspects. If you haven't seen it you should, unless you don't like shooting, cussing, and rated R movies.

Oh, we know THAT film quite well... I think Hollister is Kaiser Sose... or would that be Rearic?

I thought Mike Turber was really the Kaiser...

But since he is the master of disguise and deception, BFC's consummately evil genius is probably Spark

A movie reference? Yes. But, you young folks don't appreciate the classics. The original film reference is actually to Casablanca.

After Rick shoots Major Strasser with a gun hidden in the pocket of his trench coat, the Gendarme arrive to find Strasser on the ground, dead from a gun shot wound. Ricky is standing with his hand in his pocket and a smoking bullet hole in the front of his coat.
Captain Renault gives the guards their orders: "Major Strasser's been shot!... Round up the usual suspects." And off they go to round up the usual suspects.

The Usual Suspects is also the nickname of the group that I go drinking with on Wednesday evenings.

For the even younger generation, some good parts of Casablanca -- simply can't remember if the usual suspects line is one -- are slipped into the hilarious -- my personal favorite -- Woody Allen movie, Play it Again, Sam -- another line from Casablanca. See Diane Keaton when she could make all the Xs and Ys stand at attention in straight lines. (Can I say that?)

Casablanca, now there was a great movie. The term "the usual suspects" appear in the beginning of the film where a thief was explaining to an European couple that the police was rounding up the usual suspects for the death of German couriers. The idea was that the police didn't bother with investigations, the same low-lifes were rounded up for all crimes.

The screen writers did not know how to end the movie. They wanted Rick to get away but couldn't figure out how. Legend has it, the writers (twin brothers) were driving together in the last days of filming, turned to each other and simultaniously said "round up the usual suspects." Thus leading to one of the most memorable classic film endings.

BTW, the Pamela Anderson flick -- "Barbed Wire" is a cheesy remake of Casablanca. With Pamela in lieu of Bogie, and a decidely different ending. There was to be another remake with Denise Hopper in the leading role. But somehow, lines like "Hey man! Play that again man!" didn't charm the producers.

Boondock saints does indeed rock!!!!

One point... If you'd been let into a room with that much firepower in it, would you make your weapon of choice a berretta? (or 2, the point still stands.)
