V-Belt Problems

well I was testing my kmg clone today and noticed that at high rpms my link belt was very loud. so i went to carquest and got another V-belt. man it runs quit at high speeds and when i say high speeds i am talking 5,000-10,000 SFPM. but I noticed at low speeds under 1500 SFPM the motor starts to bounce. and the slower it goes the worse it gets. i started looking at it and noticed that there is a spot on the belt that when it hits the small 2" pulley it drops inside the pulley a little bit more then where the rest of the belt runs. so i watch the motor and yes when that spot goes past the small pulley the motor drops a bit. is this normal for a belt from a auto store? where can i get a good high quality belt so it does not do this. thanks.

I have a high quality link belt and i don't like it, it makes to much noise. I made the pulleys so i know there spot on.

I've heard nothing but excellent love for the fenner belts. Smoother than a standard belt once worn in. Lowers noise and vibration.

I'm using the Fenner PowerTwist on my Coote and will never go back to "regular" v-belts. They run on a bias, so be sure the arrows are pointing in the right direction :D

Glad you got things going JT  I had a feeling something was off when you said the belt was too noisy...
