V knives

Here's a little thing to keep in mind about Kickstarter that I found out the hard way. When you get a product from a Kickstarter campaign, you're getting a gift for a donation, not buying a product. May seem like an insignificant difference, but if you want to return that product and get a refund it becomes a lot more important.

So, no, I won't be Kickstarting a knife, nor anything else. If you want me to buy one, you can sell it to me in the traditional fashion.
Exactly. Kickstarters in any one of the many variations is like paying with paypal gift. You have little to no recourse.

I've seen a Kickstarter page built for potato salad. Legitimate potato salad. It got like $450k(I may be off, it's been a long while).

The website itself tries to root out scammers, but they specifically say they are not involved in whatever happens, be it good or bad. If you don't get your robotic dog it's between you and the person/company who said they could provide you with said robotic dog. That's always been worrisome to me. Pretty much exactly why I never donated before.

Although I do hope he gets the start up money he's looking for to build a new company. There's nothing wrong with a little added competition in the knife world!

his design's are similar to each other in his lineup so i dont get the guy who commented about design identity.
You think these knives share a design identity?

Yeah, there are a lot of abuses of Kickstarter and Indiegogo. You have to have a degree of confidence in the program manager or you risk throwing your money away. I think the worst of these is GoFundMe. I've seen people start fundraisers there just because they blew the welfare check and needed money for beer:confused:.

To make matters worse, Kickstarter gets some money out of every campaign that makes the lowest tier goal regardless of whether the campaign is fulfilled. They stand very little to lose and everything to gain.

What I don't get with these things that it is very clear you are screwed if the maker fails, according to the TOS. Yet people just hand their money away. Makes no sense to me.

I won't be looking at any sort of kickstarter/fundmethingy or IG. Too scammy for me.

According to the Knife News article, NiVes is not going to label their Chinese made knives with a "China" stamp on the knife itself, only on the box.

Which is fine. They are actually pretty clear on the KickStarter page about where each model is both made and assembled, which is nice.

Nope it makes no sense but there's a sucker born every minute.

I like the Rocky folder with the 3-inch Wharncliffe blade.

I am going to hold off until I see them at a dealer though.
