Vacation finds

So this afternoon I stopped by one of the places you visited while down here last week. No good knives to be had. They said some guy from Ohio came through and cleaned them out (not really)!

I did find a nice pipe stamped "Sardinian Briar" which made me think of Fausto. Interesting design in that most of the stem was also briar, not ebonite or lucite. If it's still there next time I stop by, I'll have to lay down a few bucks for it.

Which one Doug?

The Vintage Village. They said one guy who had just left may have some pocket knives. A handful of others were available from various sellers, none very interesting. Thanks for the tips. I'm going to hit the other place in Raleigh Saturday.

Good luck! That VV place is actually a few miles down the road from where we were on the weekend.
When I went there was a building with a cigar box with some beat up pocket knives, right next to some military items. The building in the back had some but were pretty worn.
The last time I went (Christmas time) there was a person who made leather goods and had a lot of good pocket knives. Unfortunately she moved out recently.

Saw the cigar box, that's also where the pipe was. Also the few in the building at the back. I'll stop in again.

That is about 35 minutes from my house, just down the road from where we board the dog when we go out of town.

I am jealous. I have never found a gem like any of those!

All I find are modern pot metal folders, with funny colored laminated wood, and boot daggers that appear to be ground out of mother's old aluminum pans etc.
