Vacation in the Smokies

Cades Cove is a cool place - we went last year and had a blast. Klingmon's dome should have nice clear views this time of year! Have a blast.

Buy any knives at SMKW yet?
I purchased the Buck Vantage Pro from SMKW the first day we were here  It's a sweet knife for $50 ! G10 handles,BOS/ S30V blade & full SS liners.

Sweet pics and thanks for sharing. Me and my family are actually going to Elkmont tomorrow. We are very excited about seeing the smokies! Are you back or still at Cade's Cove?

I'm still in Tenn. (Peigon forge) at Wilderness in the Smokies

The Smoky Mt NP is probably one of my favorite places that I know of. I'm super glad you're having a good time. You do any hikes other than to Abrams Falls? Coaldigger, what part of Eastern KY are you from? My wife is from good old Harlan County (X-wife too for that matter).

Wow, it looks like a lot of fun from the pics, and the way you make it sound. Sweet new blade as well. cool beans.

Thanks Coaldigger. I have only done projects in Pike County, never lived there. I do have a few fond memories of the area. Those mountains get into your blood. You hate 'em, but you can't leave them. I have to admit that Pine Mountain is my favorite overall.

Back in January of '03, my wife and I saw Cades Cove under a foot of snow. We were one of the first few vehicles in after they opened the roads. Absolutely beautiful!

Yep...I love these hills 'Ol Bud, I was raised here in these hills. I spent my youth running around in these hills w/ my Dad Hunting & camping & just woods bumming around ;) All my buddies were playing school sports or going to school dances & that kinda stuff but not me I was either in the hills or on the river bank :D

My wife and I used to visit Cade's Cove around Christmas. IF no family was going to be in town, we'd make reservations at a good restaurant, eat, and head over to Cades Cove. Did the cove only once with about 6" of snow. The other times the roads were blocked either up to the top of the mountain toward Clingman's Dome or before you got much past the road to Townsend.
