Vacation - WTF?

I thought Democrats were tree huggers?

LOL - So did I :o

Here are my 3 Amigo's that made the trip

I don't get TOO many complaints about the blades. Well, in what she considers "moderation.." :D She was toting a good SAK in her person when we met 16 years ago.

The firearms, though? Eh, well that is a different story. My goal for her reaction is methodical indifference. :p

The key to both? Once they're in the house and they come out of the safe, she never knows the difference. The key is getting them into the mancave the first time. It is like sanctuary.

I carry concealed handguns all the time so my wife does'nt ask any questions anymore. But she does ask oh is that a new knife
when i've got a new one laying out for my eye candy enjoyment.

I can relate to that :D Since we had to fly out to AZ, I had to leave my guns.

Actually, didn't get a chance to use my knives too much on the trip, but I had them just in case  Might have to try some cactus carving on my next trip

There is hope as at one point my wife even asked my to take the Camp Tramp out where I could reach it quickly after she read a marker at one of the trail heads warning of rabid foxes in the area ;)

Amen Brother - That's why I moved my safe out to my shop - I can have the goods from the car to the safe before she even knows I'm home

Then when I take something out and she asks .... it's like what .... that ol' thing ... I thought you had seen that one before :D

Good stuff Bruce!
My wife's response: "Whatever makes you happy." Translation, she's numb to it.
Actually... what would make me happy is more sex. :)

Just get her a nice knife that would be hers.

Maybe an SnG CC SW or something. :D

Or a Strider PT CC. :)

Hey, any Republican deer hunter with a climbing stand is a tree hugger!

My wife of 39 years has never commented negatively on my guns and knives, but I did overhear her one time telling a friend that she was so glad I had the knives hobby as an outlet.

As luck would have it, she has asked only once what a knife cost, and that happened to be the day I received a one of a kind custom Fusion-handled Busse Bowie, the most expensive one I have ever bought. After I mumbled the answer, she only said, "Oh" and never mentioned it again.

She ain't perfect, though, as she absolutely refuses to clean fish.

my wife still doesn't get it but it helped a great deal when I got her a set of Bark River Kitchen knives, she loved them. Then when we went camping I let her use one of my small blades to whittle some sticks and she had a lot of fun so I got her one of her own. She still gives me flack, she still thinks I am weird talking with friends I have made on the internet. I am planning a camping trip this summer with Justin and a bunch of the Ranger guys and she thinks I am insane. She doesn't get it that the people here are all real. Don't think she ever will but she lets me be me and I guess that is all I can ask for. Good luck, you will need it :D

I would like to also add, this is the main reason I have never been to Blade which sucks, I would love to make the trip but I have a feeling she would come unglued if I told her I was flying all the way across country for a knife show

Silverbullets, I'm glad I'm not the only one in that boat. Sounds like our wives think the exact same way. And man, I wish I could make it to blade.

I hear ya, we should start a support group :D I remember a while back a friend of mine that I made on the forums gave me a knife. Now as you all know there are a lot of extremely generous folks here. Anyway after taking a really long time of convincing the mrs i didn't buy another knife, "this one was a gift honey" she gave me the "what does he want from you, nobody is going to buy a complete stranger a knife" then she railed me for giving him my address so he could mail it...... ah many a knife arguement with my other half.

My gal has volunteered to take my two-day weekly shift
of taking care of my mother so that I can go to Blade.

I started having everything related to my addiction shipped to my office. This way I can "screen" what is discovered. I am also in the habit of picking up a Pandora charm here, a box of bullets there. I once got my wife a pink mini-griptilian which she carries daily in her purse. I love it when the ER security guards at the hospital tell me about her walking though the parking lot to leave at night with her purse in one hand and the pink mini in the other. Opened and ready to go.

I accidentally left some knife porn on our camera the other day and she asked me if I was selling my knives. I said "just a few". When I showed her my first Busse FFBM she just shook her head.

Now that's awesome.

AH KNIFE PORN, that is usually my biggest screw up, I am usually drunk when taking pictures of my blades and there are those drunken occasions that I forget to erase the camera after uploading and she will be clicking thru the pics and say "is this new" :D

My wife was not into knives when we got married.

She is now---has about 30 of them.

We actually spent out first wedding anniversary hiking and testing knives

Start buying her a knife or 2----let her pick the one she likes~!

We've been married for 34 yrs. and my wife just doesn't really care what I do--honestly never has. She just trusts me to not go totally out of bounds. She's been through 40k of working cowhorses, $7000 mountain bikes and expensive desert vehicles and all my other "hobbies";so this one is relatively cheap to her. She did see me looking at pix of past Blades on the Forum and said if I ever went she was going just to keep an eye on me. I'm a fortunate guy!!
