vacuum pump

Marekz, I have a Yellow Jacket 6CFM....bought it on Ebay . Shop around there for some good buys. I first had a 1.7 cfm and it was too small. You need enough vac to boil water. IMHO

That Tractor won't work. It is for picking up small parts to do assembly of things like electronics.

The mini pump probably is a bit under powered, and is DC.

A simple venturi vac pump will work, or find a used HVAC evacuation pump. Check the pawn shops. These items sit on the shelves for years. You can offer anything and get your price, usually.

Philip,
Mine pulls 23 on my gauge. The one you have in the pic is the same one I have, minus the red plastic case. Theres a pic of it in the other thread. I guess it depends on what solution ur using to stabilizing and the material thickness / density.

You can use a small one if you live in a dry area and the wood in dried .But where I live is very humid and if the wood is not down to 8% moisture you may have problems. A larger pump will "dry the wood ( as in boiling out the moisture) . I have a shelf that's full with "experiments.

I have it and have no problem getting 100% penetration with most woods within reason - as in we all know it is almost impossible to stabilize ipe cause it's just too hard.

What type of setup are you using (i.e. vessel, plumbing etc.)?
